    Descripción

    The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute (LDBPI) is a center of healing, teaching, and learning for families and

    communities dealing with murder, trauma, grief, and loss. We aim to transform society's response to homicide,

    ensuring all families are treated with dignity and compassion. Founded in 1994 after the murder of Dorchester

    resident, Louis D. Brown, the LDBPI is recognized across the state and country for the best practices in the field of

    homicide response. With over 30 years of experience, the LDBPI continues to innovate and grow.

    Role Summary

    We seek a bilingual Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) Coordinator dedicated to meeting the unique needs of

    families impacted by murder. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, communicative, and experienced in serving

    diverse communities. This SOS Coordinator will report to the Director of Survivor Outreach Services and work

    closely with other Coordinators and program staff. The desired start date for this position is June 15, 2026.

    Responsibilities

    ● Provide a safe meeting place for families within 24-72 hours of a homicide to address practical needs of

    survivors from death notification to funerals.

    ● Conduct survivor intakes through in-person, virtual, or telephone sessions.

    ● Maintain consistent communication with families to assess needs, monitor progress, develop and monitor

    long-term plans for survivors' healing and provide advocacy as needed.

    ● Collaborate with other service providers for mental health services, housing, financial resources, etc.

    ● Advocate for clients' rights under the MA Victims Bill of Rights and MA Bereavement Leave Act.

    ● Update and maintain case documentation.

    ● Attend relevant meetings and community events.

    ● Commitment to LDBPI’s mission, values, and the seven Principles of Peace; promote the mission and

    vision of the LDBPI in individual conversations and at events and meetings.

    ● Support organization’s annual events such as the Mother’s Day Walk for Peace, Peace B’Que, and

    Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month.

    Qualifications & Skills

    ● Minimum 3 years of experience in human services, case management, and/or advocacy.

    ● Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are required for this role to effectively serve our Spanish

    speaking survivors

    ● Highly organized, resourceful, and proactive with excellent communication skills.

    ● Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, Google applications, and internet research.

    ● Strong administrative skills, including record-keeping and data entry.

    ● Ability to work independently and as part of a team with diverse populations.

    ● Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

    ● Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple cases.

    Desired Qualifications

    ● Experience with the Department of Children & Families.

    ● Some formal clinical training and education.

    Time Commitment

    ● Full-time, 40 hours/week position, including some evening and weekend work.
