    Job Summary:

We are seeking an Operations Director to join our team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Operations Director will play a leadership role in ensuring accurate, efficient, timely execution of each facet of internal operations, including financial operations, record keeping, CMR tracking, event logistics, and coordination with external stakeholders. This role will serve as point of contact to the fiscal sponsor account team, organizational partners, and contractors, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.

    About Future Currents:

Future Currents creates the spaces for movement organizations to build resilient relationships, tackle pressing challenges, prepare for possible conditions, and map our way to the just and joyful future we deserve. We focus on the knotty, chronic, systemic, and often scary obstacles in our daily lives, whether they be authoritarian threats to our democracy, the shifting economic paradigm, or the need within movements to retool and reshape our infrastructure to meet changing conditions.

Future Currents encourages movement leaders and organizations to operate outside the dominant modes of thinking that currently limit the scope of possibility. We use a mix of creative methods — including facilitated immersive group convenings, scenario planning exercises, and resources that build the muscles of preparation and imagination — to spark new understandings, analyses, and strategies that open up the potential for long-term change. Future Currents is a project of New Venture Fund (NVF), a 501(c)(3) public charity that incubates new and innovative public-interest projects and grant-making programs.

    Responsibilities:

    • Nonprofit operations:
      • Serve as the primary liaison to fiscal sponsor account team managers, ensuring smooth operational support of Future Currents staff and contractors, as well as timely responsiveness to fiscal sponsor.
      • Ensure Future Currents’ policies are maintained and updated as needed.
      • Oversee internal processes, including onboarding new staff and the annual performance review process.
      • Oversee and update (as necessary) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
      • Supervise operations staff and consultants.

      • Ensure the timely and accurate execution of all needs related to contracts, grants, and subgrants.

    • Event and logistics coordination:
      • Provide leadership in supporting staff and contractors for events and convenings, including planning and tracking project timelines, planning and tracking event budgets, venue selection and vendor coordination, and ensuring progress is communicated across relevant stakeholders.
    • Other:
      • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
      • Partner with the executive director and serve on the Leadership Team.
      • Other duties as assigned.
