    Title: Senior Manager, Grants & Contracts

    Status: Full-Time Exempt

    Location: New York, NY - Hybrid

    Reports to: Director of Grants & Contracts

    Effective: January 1, 2027

    Organizational Background: Founded in 1986, the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is the nation’s only pan-Asian children and families’ advocacy organization that brings together community-based organizations as well as youth and parents to fight for equity for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) children and families. In addition to its work to improve the health and well-being of AAPI children in New York, CACF works to transform the AAPI community by fostering collaboration, promoting community leadership, and building a collective voice.

    Primary Responsibilities

    The Senior Manager, Grants & Contracts will oversee CACF’s grantmaking and subcontracting portfolios, including the Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund (CCNSF), Asian American Pacific Islander Community Development Fund (AAPI CDF), and subcontracted funding through the AAPI Equity Budget Coalition (AAPI Equity). The Senior Manager works collaboratively with the Director for Grants & Contracts and other CACF stakeholders (e.g. Co-EDs, Director of Policy and Government Relations, etc.) to execute these programs, ensuring alignment with CACF’s mission and systems-change goals. The Senior Manager will supervise the CACF G&C portfolio teams, ensuring that awardee and subcontracted partners are holistically supported and that CACF maintains compliance across all of its contracts. This role works collaboratively with the Director of Grants & Contracts to develop and strengthen external partnerships, and ensure that the G&C team is supported in their work. This role will be an integral part of CACF’s G&C Team that will proactively advance administrative advocacy while continuously improving upon the strong foundations that have been developed to maintain the critical funding to our communities.

    People Management & Team Development (45%)

    • Supervise and coach portfolio staff, consisting of two Grants Coordinators & two Senior Contracts Coordinators.
    • Collaboratively develop and hold staff accountable to work plans that advance CACF mission and vision.
    • Integrate strategic planning into individual work plans and wider portfolio goals to ensure progression over time and alignment with the CACF strategic plan.
    • Support portfolio team members through mentorship and identification of a professional development plan and appropriate opportunities.
    • Foster a team culture of inclusion, accountability, care, and continuous learning.
    • Troubleshoot team challenges; identify gaps and propose realistic, thoughtful solutions.
    • Recommend staffing maps and timelines aligned with programmatic needs and growth goals.
    • Approach interpersonal relationships with empathy and open-mindedness; work authentically and collaboratively to ensure shared program vision, goals, and understanding.

    Evaluation & Impact (25%)

    • In partnership with the Director of Grants & Contracts, design, implement, and continuously improve G&C portfolio programs (CCNSF, AAPI CDF, AAPI Equity).
    • Engage in feedback loops to ensure that funding streams accurately reflect community needs and priorities, while balancing compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Design and implement a system for cross-team communication around partner needs, learnings, opportunities, etc.
    • Develop and manage evaluation plans for funding portfolios.
    • Oversee development of impact materials for portfolio programs, including for use in external communications, marketing, and advocacy.

    Implementation (20%)

    • Ensure that all CACF grantmaking and subcontracted programs are administered according to contractual obligations.
    • Manage compliance across contracts.
    • Maintain a deep understanding of compliance and contract requirements; continuously engage in advocacy to improve systemic barriers.
    • Provide advice, guidance, and oversight to portfolio teams around the implementation of the portfolios.
    • Proactively and continuously assess and improve upon portfolio operation year over year.
    • Collect data to inform new, innovative offerings to subcontracted and awardee partners.
    • Engage in relationship management with partner organizations; provide next-level elevation support to team members for troubleshooting and conflict resolution.
    • Support portfolio teams through the ebbs and flows of funding, including assisting in tasks and activities, as needed.
    • Thoughtfully and proactively navigate challenges; understand and actively work to address escalating, difficult, and/or emotional situations.

    Partnerships & Advocacy (5-10%)

    • Cultivate and manage relationships with peer organizations, coalitions, agency staff, and elected/appointed officials to elevate CBO experiences, and ensure partners can connect with these stakeholders.
    • Encourage active participation in CACF policy movements.
    • Represent CACF externally and share learnings with broader audiences.

    Organizational Stewardship & Collective Responsibility (5%)

    • Share program learnings internally with staff for organization-wide planning and strategic decision-making, and externally with partners and stakeholders to amplify program impact.
    • Contribute to and facilitate a culture of shared learning, growth, inclusion, and belonging.
    • Exhibit leadership by participating in/supporting cross-functional projects, events, and other activities as needed.
    • Engage in staff leadership development, team building, professional development, and collective responsibilities (team meetings, knowledge management, data stewardship).

    Essential Skills and Abilities

    • Demonstrated commitment to CACF’s mission, children’s rights, and social justice.
    • Experience managing and administering government contracts, preferably NY City and State.
    • Ability to engage in critical thinking to assess and continuously improve team dynamics and operations.
    • Experience working in nonprofit organizations, leadership experience a plus.
    • Excellent organizational skills and expertise with spreadsheets.
    • Financial management skills, including developing/monitoring budgets and financial reporting.
    • Excellent project management skills with experience in managing and supervising administrative projects.
    • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with a keen eye for detail.
    • Good understanding of AAPI communities and non-profit organizations.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; persuasive and collaborative communicator.
    • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and provide proactive support to staff.
    • A multi-tasker with a strong ability to work under pressure.
    • Empathetic, open-minded approach to work, partners, stakeholders, and CACF colleagues.
    • Supervision experience is required; team management experience is highly preferred.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Annual starting salary: $85,000

    Excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits, including 100% coverage of employee premium costs. Four weeks vacation plus 17 paid holidays. 403(b) plan pre-tax deduction for retirement with employer match and pre-tax commuter benefits plan available.
