    About the position

    The Manager, Global Events will play a key role in the planning and execution of high-impact events that advance the GIIN’s mission and engage diverse stakeholders. This role involves end-to-end event management, from crafting speaker invitations logistics, marketing, and budget oversight. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented project manager with strong writing and creative skills who thrives in a collaborative environment.

    The incumbent in this role will contribute to GIIN’s mission by enhancing the way the organization connects with its audience through designing and delivering high-impact events.

    Position description

    Key areas of responsibility in this role include but not limited to:

    Stakeholder Engagement: By managing the "end-to-end" process, this role ensures a seamless experience for diverse stakeholders, including speakers and attendees. This directly strengthens relationships, builds community, and fosters a positive perception of the organization.

    Brand Ambassador: The manager's creative and project management skills ensure that every event, from the initial invitation to the final details, aligns with the organization's brand identity. They are responsible for creating a compelling and consistent brand experience that reinforces GIIN’s mission.

    Speaker Engagement: The Global Events Manager will craft speaker invitations, oversee certain aspects of marketing, and provide support on content, logistics, and presentation guidelines.

    Liaise with Finance on Budget/Expense Reconciliation:

    By working with the Finance team, the Manager, Global Events ensures that all event-related spending is accurately tracked and reconciled to help analyze ROI and use data to inform future decisions to properly allocate resources for future events.

    The Global Events Manager must have the ability to:

    • Build strong, trusting relationships internally with staff and peers across departments and externally
    • Work backwards to identify benchmarks, track progress, build in ample time for the work to get done plus unplanned twists, anticipate roadblocks and proactively design solutions to work through/around them
    • Find and track factors that will feed into decision-making, including tracking expenses against budgets
    • Communicate in clear, compelling ways, both in writing and verbally, to a range of different audiences, including ability to write clear, concise emails or other communication, and to communicate in writing and verbally in a way that builds relationships
    • Consistently deliver error-free work, including their own drafts and editing drafts other people have written
    • Demonstrated the ability to manage data in systems/databases with the ability to input accurate data, on time, using our systems and protocols (Cvent and similar event management tools)
    • Work comfortably with collaboration platforms such as Slack, Zoom, SharePoint and Google Suite, and aptitude to learn different platforms and/or software as needed to achieve organizational goals

    Location

    This position will be based in our New York City office with significant remote work flexibility offered through the GIIN’s hybrid in-person/remote work model. Candidates must possess valid authorization to work in the United States that does not require employment visa sponsorship.

    Compensation

    The GIIN is committed to pay equity. The salary range for this role is between $67,000 - $82,000, with exact salary depending on experience, with an excellent benefits package.

Basing compensation on someone’s willingness and ability to negotiate or on their prior salary can lead to unfair outcomes in how people are paid, particularly for individuals experiencing barriers.
