    Position Announcement: • Community Engagement Coordinator

    (part-time, approximately 20 hours per week, non-exempt, no benefits)

    $20,000-$30,000 per year based on experience

    • Position to start as soon as possible • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred • Must work part-time from Center for Rural Livelihoods campus in Cottage Grove, Oregon - Applications accepted until position is filled; early submissions preferred.

    The Center for Rural Livelihoods seeks to remake society and regenerate ecologies through education, project incubation support, and community organizing. Housing may be available on campus.

    Job Description:

    Community Engagement Support for Three Projects

    1 - Community outreach, education, and engagement on local renewable energy projects in conjunction with Lane County, Emerald People’s Utility District, Springfield Utilities Board, and the National Renewables Energy Laboratory. Project includes but is not limited to planning and hosting nine community forums per year.

    2 - Community organizing around disaster preparation, activation, and recovery under the umbrella network of the COAD (Community Organizations Active in Disaster)

    3 - Hosting and managing community educational forums, recreational events, and building the rental program on the CRL campus

    Communications Coordination

    Communication work will be a combination of website maintenance and updates, database management, coordinating regular newsletters, building social media impact, making fliers, potentially producing a podcast series, developing donations system and donor engagement, and run/support fundraising campaigns.

    Administrative Support

    Administrative support will include a combination of procurements, managing contracts, bookkeeping and grant support, helping to set up land projects on the forty-acre campus

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • To fulfill CRL’s role in the Clean Energy 2 Communities project with Lane County, Emerald Peoples Utility District, Springfield Utility Board, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. This includes developing and leading stakeholder mapping exercises, coordinating and facilitating twenty-seven community meetings over three years.
    • The goal of this project is to foster local clean energy transitions across multiple sectors (grid, buildings, and mobility) and help communities equitably access the economic and environmental benefits of clean energy. This project seeks to empower the communities that need it most.
    • The goal of this position is to develop the community engagement needed for building smart, local, community power. Candidates should enjoy working with diverse groups – from utility districts and county officials to grassroots organizations – and possess strong interpersonal communication skills, organization skills, and cultural and anti-oppression competence.

    Desired Experience and Qualifications:

    • The CRL Community Engagement Coordinator is a person who thrives in a small, dynamic, collaborative, and professional environment and who is passionate about remaking society and regenerating landscapes. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred (fluent and/or native speaker preferred) • Commitment to CRL’s values and mission. • 2 years of community organizing or outreach experience. • Experience coordinating and facilitating community meetings • Experience creating announcements and outreach materials • Public speaking experience. •

    Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines.

    Pay and Benefits:

    • This position is part-time at least twenty hours per week, non-exempt, no benefits. • Salary is $20,000 - $30,000 commensurate with experience. • The position as stated will significantly change and potentially terminate upon the completion of the Clean Energy to Community grant in 2028 • two and a half year commitment expected • Must be based in Lane County, Oregon • Some travel and weekend events may be required.
