    Descripción

    Position Summary

    The Marketing Manager supports the mission of United Way of Greater Newark (UWGN) by developing and executing strategic marketing and communication initiatives that elevate brand visibility, strengthen donor engagement, and promote key programs and campaigns. This role works closely with the Resource Development Team and Community Impact Team to deliver high-quality digital and print materials, manage multi-channel campaigns, and ensure consistent brand representation across all platforms.

    Key Responsibilities

    Marketing Materials & Strategies

    • Develop and execute integrated marketing and brand communication strategies that promote UWGN’s mission and initiatives, ensuring alignment with United Way brand standards.
    • Create professional, high-quality promotional and campaign materials for both digital and print.
    • Collaborate with the Resource Development Team and Community Impact Team to plan and develop marketing strategies for major campaigns, programs, and events.
    • Help manage quality control of all marketing and collateral materials, including video production, annual reports, pledge cards, brochures, and other assets.
    • Write, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, blogs, press releases, donor communications, and other platforms.
    • Support digital marketing efforts through SEO, email marketing, paid and organic social campaigns, and web analytics.
    • In collaboration with external marketing agency, manage UWGN’s website, ensuring accessibility and up-to-date content.

    Donor & Targeted Audience Relations

    • Collaborate with the Resource Development Team to develop communications, collateral, and digital materials that enhance fundraising efforts and increase donor engagement.
    • Help design and implement targeted donor and partner communications, such as direct mail, email campaigns, and digital storytelling initiatives.
    • Assist in developing materials for major giving, corporate partnerships, and workplace campaigns.
    • Support the execution of annual fundraising campaigns through creative design, storytelling, and coordinated content development.
    • Work with staff to collect and share compelling impact stories and testimonials demonstrating donor investment and community outcomes.

    Events, Promotions & Sponsorships

    • Collaborate across departments to create event signage, materials, and collateral in coordination with all departments, particularly Resource Development.
    • Help capture photo, video, and story content at events for post-event communications and social sharing.
    • Assist in fulfilling sponsorship benefits and recognition requirements.
    • Help with event setup and breakdown as necessary.

    Administrative Functions

    • Perform responsibilities in accordance with United Way policies and procedures, including attending staff meetings and trainings.
    • Demonstrate strong project management skills, balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while motivating cross-functional teams toward shared goals.
    • Submit budgets and support budget planning as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop; Premiere Pro or After Effects preferred).
    • Experience with WordPress website management, including basic SEO and accessibility standards.
    • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills focused on inclusive and engaging storytelling.
    • Proven ability to design and execute digital and print marketing materials.
    • Familiarity with social media management tools, digital advertising platforms, and analytics (Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, etc.).
    • Strong ability to collaborate across departments while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Demonstrated customer service, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, daily access to reliable transportation, and ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

    • Creative Design & Content Development: Skill in graphic design software, storytelling, writing, editing, and producing compelling materials.
    • Donor-Centric Mindset: Understanding of donor engagement, fundraising strategies, segmentation, and how to tailor messaging to inspire giving and strengthen relationships.
    • Community & Mission Orientation: Commitment to UWGN’s mission with the ability to communicate authentically, work effectively with diverse communities, and elevate community impact stories.

    Qualifications

      • 3-5 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field (nonprofit or mission-driven experience strongly preferred).
      • Experience developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns, including digital, print, email, and social media.
      • Demonstrated experience creating digital and print collateral.
      • Experience managing website content (WordPress preferred), including basic SEO, accessibility standards, and web content updates.
      • Experience tracking and analyzing marketing and fundraising performance metrics, including engagement, conversions, and donor behavior.
      • Demonstrated ability to create compelling storytelling content, including donor stories, program impact narratives, video scripts, and campaign messaging.
      • Experience coordinating events, promotions, and sponsorship deliverables is helpful but not required.
      • Experience collaborating across departments and managing relationships with vendors, designers, photographers, and media partners.
