    Executive Director

    Capital Clubhouse, Inc.

    Washington, D.C.

The Moran Company is pleased to partner with Capital Clubhouse, Inc. to recruit the organization's next Executive Director.

Capital Clubhouse is a pioneer in the District of Columbia, providing a supportive, restorative environment based on the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs. Central to its mission is the "Work-Ordered Day," a model that empowers members to regain their confidence, learn vocational skills, and reintegrate into the community through meaningful work and peer support.

As a member-led community, Capital Clubhouse operates on the belief that every individual has the potential to contribute and lead a fulfilling life. The Clubhouse provides a bridge to employment, serving as a vital resource for the diverse populations across the District’s eight wards.

Capital Clubhouse is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as its next Executive Director. This individual will be a passionate advocate for the Clubhouse Model, combining a deep belief in the restorative power of community with the strategic and financial acumen necessary to grow the organization’s impact. The Executive Director is the "face" of the Clubhouse, responsible for fostering a culture of equity, managing complex government relations, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the program through robust fundraising and grant cultivation with support from the Board of Directors.

The Executive Director provides comprehensive organizational leadership, including financial management, budgeting, reporting, technology optimization, and close partnership with the Board of Directors to strengthen governance and support leadership development. The role advances a consensus-based strategic vision, serves as the primary external advocate to increase awareness and reduce mental health stigma, and drives fundraising and revenue diversification through new funding streams and expanded donor engagement. Additionally, the Executive Director fosters a trauma-informed culture, supervises and develops staff, oversees employment programs, and builds strong relationships with government agencies, community leaders, and nonprofit partners to support funding and policy initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a compassionate, mission-driven leader with demonstrated success in fundraising and financial management, strong communication and mediation skills, and prior experience within mental health or human services organizations. They will bring a deep commitment to the Clubhouse Model, collaborative consensus-based leadership, cultural competency, and the ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders, supported by a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred).

The annual salary for this position is $150,000. The role is accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package and support for ongoing professional development, such as a certification from the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association.
