    Title: Black Perinatal Health Coordinator

    Reports to: Program Manager

    Work Site: Remote

    Max Hours: 40 hours/week ( Mon-Fri; occasional evenings/weekends)

    Term: Temporary, full-time grant-funded position until December 31, 2026

    Wage: $27.76

    Non-Exempt | Benefits Eligible | At-will position

    Position Summary:

    The Black Perinatal Health Coordinator plays a vital role in the day-to-day delivery and continuous improvement of BWOCC’s Black Perinatal Health initiatives. Collaborating closely with the Executive Director, Programs Manager, and Operations Manager, staff, and community stakeholders, the Coordinator helps design and execute regional program strategies. Strategies include overseeing client intake and service coordination, fostering community partnerships, and driving culturally responsive outreach, education, and advocacy efforts. In addition to these responsibilities, the Coordinator manages program resources, budgets, data collection, evaluations, and grant-related activities to ensure compliance with funding requirements and support sustainable growth. Success in this role requires strong program coordination skills, effective written and verbal communication, experience in community outreach and engagement, and a demonstrated commitment to racial equity, reproductive justice, and trauma-informed care.

    Responsibilities:

    Regional Program Coordination and Implementation

    • Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of national and regional perinatal health initiatives that support Black pregnant, birthing and postpartum individuals.
    • Collaborate with BWOCC leadership, internal teams, Black doulas, and community partners to strengthen referral pathways, program initiatives, and expand access to culturally responsive perinatal care.
    • Attend meetings, workshops, trainings, and gatherings with doulas, community partners, and stakeholders to advance program coordination and community engagement.
    • Collect and track program data, including participation, engagement, and community feedback, and contribute to program evaluations that support continuous improvement and reporting requirements.
    • Maintain accountability for assigned projects, deadlines, and program deliverables while providing regular progress updates to leadership.

    Client Intake and Service Navigation

    • Support clients in navigating perinatal health resources and services.
    • Coordinate client intake process, including eligibility determination, enrollment, and referral tracking.
    • Coordinate the delivery of services, matching clients with doulas or appropriate providers and ensuring seamless communication.
    • Follow up with participants after services are received to determine satisfaction and provide additional resources or information as needed.
    • Maintain clear and consistent communication between clients, service providers, and the organization.

    Black Doula Engagement and Network

    • Support opportunities to strengthen relationships and promote engagement of BWOCC trained doulas and collective members across program regions/national.
    • Organize doula gatherings, peer learning spaces, mentorship opportunities, and community-building events.
    • Support leadership development opportunities for Black doulas within BWOCC initiatives
    • Maintain ongoing communication with doulas to support participation in programming, training, advocacy efforts, and community events.

    Communications and Community Outreach

    • Support outreach and communication efforts to increase community awareness and participation in Black Perinatal Health (BPH) programs and events.
    • Contribute to the development of culturally responsive outreach materials, and campaign content, which may include:
      • Social media content
      • Email newsletters
      • Printed flyers and handouts
      • Presentation decks for community and partner events
    • Promote and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, clinics, healthcare providers, and advocacy partners to strengthen referral pathways and collaboration.
    • Represent BWOCC at community events, conferences, gatherings, and meetings to promote Black Perinatal Health services and build community trust.

    Health Education and Advocacy

    • Support the coordination and facilitation of workshops, classes, and events focused on Black perinatal and community health.
    • Participate in advocacy and education efforts that elevate Black Perinatal Health and wellness priorities and highlight the role of doulas at the community, regional, state, and national levels.
    • Stay up to date on relevant policy updates and legislative impacts to Black Perinatal Health
    • Encourage engagement of staff, collective members, community members, and clients in Black Perinatal Health initiatives including collecting testimonials, evaluation feedback, and in-person and digital mobilizations.

    Grant Writing and Fundraising

    • Participate in fundraising and donor engagement activities as needed to support the sustainability of BWOCC programs.
    • Identify funding opportunities to expand the organization's Black Perinatal Health services and impact.
    • Contribute subject matter expertise and regional insights to inform proposals, narratives, and applications.
    • Provide program data, documentation, and updates needed to support grant submissions and funding requirements.

    Administrative tasks

    • Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, client interactions, service outcomes, and prepare summaries or post event reports as needed.
    • Assist with grant reporting, and general administrative support as needed.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Program Manager, and Operations Manager, staff, and other key stakeholders to support the effective implementation of Black perinatal health initiatives.
    • Participate in regular check-ins, planning meetings, and internal communications to ensure alignment across program teams.

    Requirements:

    • Must have ability to plan, coordinate, and organize national, state and local based organization campaigns and projects .
    • Some experience with facilitating workshops/support groups virtual and in-person preferred
    • Experience supporting and/or leading Black Perinatal Health programming and initiatives
    • Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
    • Two years or more experience in program coordination, nonprofit leadership, community outreach and/or organizing
    • Background in birth or reproductive justice work preferred but not required.
    • Must have access to stable internet and computer/laptop.
    • Travel is required. We are a national organization with activities hosted across the United States
    • Experience in working with communities of Color and strong racial, disability, gender and economic justice framework
    • Commitment to anti-oppression and de-colonization work with a focus on racial equity and reproductive justice.
    • Must be familiar with trauma-informed care.
