    About the West Contra Costa Public Education Fund

    The West Contra Costa Public Education Fund (Ed Fund) mobilizes resources for our students and aligns the efforts of our partners to ensure that all students succeed in college, career, and life.     The Ed Fund seeks to hire a Mental Health Clinician to support the district's Full Service Community School and Positive School Climate Initiatives. These positions will be employed through the Ed Fund but will report directly to the Director of School Climate for WCCUSD.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

    The Mental/Behavioral Wellness Clinician is responsible for providing trauma-informed and healing-centered counseling services to students, supporting their mental health, and building systems to enhance overall well-being at assigned schools. This role involves carrying a caseload, conducting monthly training and support for small working groups, fostering connections with community-based organizations, and providing crisis support.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Trauma-Informed Counseling:

    - Provide direct clinical services to students, addressing mental and behavioral support needs.

    - Carry a caseload and implement therapeutic strategies, interventions, and outreach.

    Training and Support:

    - Conduct monthly training sessions on restorative and healing-centered approaches for small working groups.

    - Train and support staff on best practices to promote student mental health and behavior.

    System Building:

    - Develop and implement systems to support mental health at assigned schools.

    - Participate in the planning/implementation of academic/support teams for effective delivery and monitoring of student support services.

    Community Connections:

    - Foster connections with community-based organizations to enhance mental health support.

    - Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure a continuum of care for students.

    Crisis Intervention and De-escalation:

    - Provide crisis intervention and assessment for students.

    - Support de-escalation of behavior and crisis situations.

    - Assist admin teams in exploring alternative means of correction for student behavior, with a focus on reducing exclusions from school.

    Advocacy and Training:

    - Provide leadership and training on best practices for supporting student wellness.

    - Advocate for stakeholders, ensuring necessary support and resources are provided.

    Education and Support for Stakeholders:

    - Assist district staff in understanding family dynamics to develop effective strategies for working with families.

    - Provide resources and support for administrators, teachers, support staff, students, and families.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    - Review, process, and submit timely documentation of services provided to students.

    - Produce mandated reports for utilization and efficacy throughout the school year.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Clinical Psychology, counseling, or a related field.
    • Clinical licensure (MFT, LCSW, LPCC, LEP, or equivalent) required.
    • Two years of post-master’s experience in public schools desired.
    • Demonstrated experience working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed and healing-centered practices.
    • Familiarity with IEP and Section 504 laws, as well as student discipline laws and alternatives.
    • *LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES NEEDED:**
    • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
    • Clinical licensure (MFT, LCSW, LPCC, LEP, or equivalent).

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

    The salary range for this position is $90,158 - $109,710 plus a generous benefits package including:

    • 100% medical and dental for individual AND family
    • 5% employer contribution to 401K
    • 15 accrued vacation days (20 after 3 years), plus 4 personal days/year.
    • 2 weeks of paid vacation during winter break
    • 12 paid holidays
    • Parental leave
