Prospective Guide
Historic Deerfield, a museum of history, architecture, and decorative arts in Western Massachusetts, invites applicants from all backgrounds for its Prospective Guides training program. Anyone passionate or curious about history, art, antiques, or education should apply. This is a part-time learning opportunity, unbenefited. The hourly rate for a Prospective Guide is $15.00 per hour.
Prospective Guides are paid to participate in a multi-month training course designed to prepare them to become Museum Guides. The training course will begin on March 31, 2026. During weekly training sessions, Tuesdays (9:30-noon), Prospective Guides will learn about local history, architecture, material culture, and how to develop and lead an engaging tour. Upon completing the Prospective Guides Training Course, further employment is contingent on successfully passing a test to guide at one historic house. Guides provide an important link between our museum and the visiting public by providing a welcoming and inclusive experience to all visitors.
