    Descripción

At YouthTruth, we equip education leaders and funders to integrate on-the-ground insights into planning, professional development, and improvement processes. For over 15 years, YouthTruth has led the movement to use research-backed survey instruments to learn from the student experience to improve by listening to student voice. As Associate Manager of Data Systems, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission by serving as a bridge between client needs and technical implementation. You'll participate in client work, creating data‐driven reports based on student survey results, and advise on how systems can evolve to better serve the organization’s mission. You’ll work closely with analysts, data engineers, and client facing teams to improve and develop internal data systems that support survey administration, analysis, and reporting.

    The Ideal Candidate

    • You are a collaborative problem-solver with experience bringing together data, people, and processes to create meaningful impact.
    • You thrive at the intersection of technology and human needs, equally comfortable diving into code and facilitating conversations with diverse stakeholders.
    • You can spot inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement within production systems.
    • You excel at breaking down complex challenges into manageable steps, asking the right questions, and helping teams see the bigger picture while staying focused on practical outcomes.
    • You have experience advising data engineers or product teams on workflow and system design, and understand the value of good documentation, testing, and scalability.
    • You enjoy working with clients and internal teams to ensure that data outputs are high-quality, timely, and actionable.
    • You are a collaborative and empathetic colleague who enjoys mentoring others, and brings a clear, patient, and supportive communication style.
    • You take pride in building others’ capacity, offering guidance that helps teammates grow their technical and systems thinking skills.
    • You’re passionate about education, equity, and using data to make an impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    Survey Administration & Reporting (50%)

    • Co-manage survey administration and monthly report production.
    • Create and administer online surveys for our clients on tight deadlines.
    • Generate data‐driven reports for our clients in an online interactive platform.
    • Troubleshoot and problem‐solve operational and client issues.
    • Provide strong quality control of online surveys and report products.

    Systems & Workflow Design (30%)

    • Translate business rules into clear requirements and acceptance criteria; prioritize with the Technology team to deliver scalable, testable, and maintainable pipelines.
    • Provide subject-matter expertise on survey and reporting data - identifying logic gaps, inefficiencies, and process improvements in data system workflows.
    • Support planning and implementation of new data systems to modernize YouthTruth’s data infrastructure, serving as a business owner/expert.
    • Support analysts in analytics such as building dashboards to plan team capacity, and understanding team impact.
    • Define test plans and user acceptance testing, orchestrate validation for new data processes and track defects to resolution.

    Cross-Functional Product Support (20%)

    • Work across Data Systems and Analytics, Technology, and client facing teams to ensure alignment between product features, data systems, and team workflows.
    • Support client facing teams in troubleshooting urgent client issues with an eye towards scalable and robust solutions.
    • Provide guidance to DSA team members with the goal of increasing capacity and knowledge of the team.
    • Contribute to internal documentation and lead cross-team knowledge sharing to improve understanding of system logic and dependencies.
    • Identify opportunities to improve YouthTruth’s data tools and help implement new processes that reflect best practices in data management.

    Compensación

Our nonprofit model is central to our identity: our bottom line is impact, not profit. Yet even as a nonprofit, we successfully compete for top talent across both the public and private sectors and offer competitive compensation and benefits including:

    • A commitment to pay parity and salary equity. The 2025 annual salary for this position is $108,000 in Cambridge, MA and 118,800 in San Francisco, CA. In addition, this role is eligible for competitive Performance Based Incentive Compensation.
    • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance plans.
    • Generous paid time off plan, including three weeks of annually accrued vacation, up to 15 holidays, plus an end-of-year break.
    • 401(k) plan with a 1:1 Employer Match up to 5% of total compensation.
    • Generous annual personal professional development allowance.
    • Flexible spending and dependent care tax free savings plans.

We strive to balance in-person time with flexibility and the needs of each person, their team, and the larger organization. We believe culture, collaboration, communication, trust- and relationship-building, training, and certain kinds of creative work benefit from in-office interactions – and we believe that the flexibility of remote work also has many advantages. We expect staff to be in the office at least two days per week, and more frequently during new staff introduction periods to support a robust orientation. Everyone will enjoy the option to work fully remotely from anywhere four weeks per year.
