Executive Director

The Chapman Estate Foundation is seeking its first Executive Director to lead the transition from a

100% volunteer-run organization to a sustainable, professionally managed nonprofit. Our mission is

to preserve, maintain, and operate the historic Chapman Estate for community access and charitable

purposes, in accordance with the bequest of philanthropist Clifford Chapman.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a historic community asset and build an

organization from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations and organizational development
• Partner with the Board to implement strategic priorities
• Oversee stewardship and activation of the Chapman Estate
• Build and manage volunteer systems
• Lead fundraising efforts (donors, grants, events)
• Develop partnerships and expand community engagement

Ideal Candidate

• Entrepreneurial and self-directed
• Comfortable building systems from scratch
• Strong communicator and relationship builder
• Willing and able to lead fundraising efforts
• Passion for community-based work and historic preservation

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in nonprofit, community, or startup environments
• Strong organizational and operational skills
• Experience with fundraising or revenue generation preferred
• Experience working with boards or volunteers a plus

Compensation (30-40 hrs/wk)

Salary: $65,000 – $85,000 (depending on experience and structure of 30 or 40/hr initial)
