    Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration (IMSI) is an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a bias-free world for children with disabilities through the creation of inclusive playgrounds and educational programs that unite children of all abilities. We are entering our 28th year as the leader in inclusive play with 80 inclusive playgrounds open worldwide. Our education program has been ordered in 67 countries and has served over 60,000 students in over 250 schools in Los Angeles. Learn more at inclusionmatters.org/.

    We are seeking a creative, dynamic, and responsible Inclusion Facilitator who will facilitate play and interaction between children with and without disabilities through the organization’s Education Program’s as well as support the program’s coordination. The position will report directly to the Education Program Manager.

    Program Description: Together, We Are Able is a proven program that delivers rich social and emotional learning through inclusive play. Through a combination of classroom workshops and interactive field trips to our inclusive playgrounds, students with and without disabilities gain awareness and compassion through the joyful vehicle of play.

    Key Overall Responsibilities:

    • Facilitate interaction between students with and without disabilities on Inclusion Matters by Shane’s Inspiration’s playgrounds.
    • Coordinate bus transportation for school field trips and communicate directly with schools regarding scheduling.
    • Support the delivery of classroom ability awareness workshops.

    Inclusive Play Field Trips:

    • Coordinate the field trips with schools and local recreation centers.
    • Facilitate the field trips on the playground, actively supporting students with and without disabilities through play, games, and ongoing support.
    • Transport playground supplies to and from the playground.
    • Monitor playground supplies.
    • Research games and activities to support students with a wide range of abilities.

    Classroom Workshops:

    • Support the Education Program Manager in delivering and scheduling classroom workshops for students in elementary, middle, and high school.

    General Program Support:

    • Gather and compile student and teacher evaluations.
    • Help track program numbers.
    • Support the Events Department at local events, providing community outreach and information on the program.
    • Meet monthly with the Education Program Manager and Sr. VP of Programs for planning.
    • Create promotional social media posts and content for the program.
    • Provide logistical support for the Senior VP of Programs for meetings and national/international program replication.

    Hours: Part-Time In Person Position

    Qualifications:

    • Strong passion for the mission.
    • Experience working directly with children is a must. Previous experience in teaching, recreation, or disabilities is appreciated.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to actively facilitate hands-on, play-based activities on the playground for a period of 4 hours per field trip.
    • Must be able to meet the program’s schedule, which is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Field trips are located throughout the greater Los Angeles Metro area and will require a valid driver's license and your own insurance, in addition to the ability to drive to the playgrounds and arrive in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a cohesive team environment.
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities while maintaining the program’s schedule.
    • Skilled in developing work plans with tasks and tactics that achieve strategic goals and outcomes for the program.
    • Results oriented with a desire to attain new goals each year.
    • Experience with basic Microsoft Office suite.
    • Understand and follow requirements of work environment including, but not limited to, open communication, professional attire, punctuality, preparation for meetings and coordinating work with all levels of employees.
    • Must pass Live Scan Background Check.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Wages: Hourly ($20/hour), 20 hours per week
    • 3 weeks PTO (2 weeks during the last two weeks of the year plus a week of your choosing) and a positive, collaborative and family-friendly work environment.

    • Dress code in the office is business casual and field trips are comfortable, non-ripped pants and Inclusion Matters t-shirts/polos.
