Our ideal candidate can work fluidly alongside indigenous artisan women in their villages, Peruvian staff members, international staff over zoom, and foreign students and volunteers, to meet deadlines, keep goals on track and move our work forward. This is an opportunity to both use creative means like writing, photography and videography to capture our work, while working across all aspects of the organization to tell Awamaki's stories.

    About Awamaki

Awamaki is a non-profit social enterprise that partners with Quechua women to preserve traditional crafts through skills based education and connection to market access through sustainable tourism and ethically-sourced crafts. To co-create and gather authentic, high-quality content that highlights the craftsmanship, traditions, and impact of Awamaki’s artisan partners. This role works closely with the Marketing & Partnerships Coordinator to ensure that Awamaki’s storytelling remains deeply connected to the artisans' lived experiences while providing engaging multimedia content for marketing, social media, and wholesale storytelling.

    Donor and Funder Communication

    • Collect content and write reports according to grant reporting timeline
    • Gather and write information about program successes and artisan stories for donor communications

    • Gather info to update and create written and visual content info for the annual report

    Photography & Video Production

    • Take high-quality photos of artisans, workshops, and finished products for marketing materials, or supervise volunteers in doing so
    • Capture and edit short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and marketing campaigns in collaboration with the marketing volunteers, as needed.
    • Maintain a photo and video library for easy access by the marketing team.
    • Share photo and video content with partners according to their specifications as needed

    Cultural & Ethical Storytelling Alignment

    • Ensure all stories are told ethically and respectfully, centering the artisans’ voices and perspectives.
    • Collaborate with artisans to co-create narratives rather than imposing external perspectives.
    • Support content translation (Quechua/Spanish to English) when necessary.

    Logistics & Coordination

    • Follow a content calendar to manage product launches and campaigns, working alongside the marketing team.
    • Coordinate with artisans to schedule interviews and photo shoots in partnership with the Marketing & Partnerships Coordinator.
