    About the Opportunity

    MGFA is seeking a community-focused event management professional to join our team as Manager, Community Health Fairs & Education. This strategic role offers the unique opportunity to build meaningful connections between MG patients, families, healthcare providers, and essential resources through our nationwide network of Community Health Fairs. You'll directly impact patient lives while developing specialized expertise in rare disease community engagement that sets you apart in the nonprofit sector.

    Reporting to the National Director, Programs, you'll serve as the operational leader of MGFA's community education initiatives while maintaining collaborative relationships across all departments. This role combines strategic event management with hands-on community building, offering the work-life integration that comes with our remote-first environment while providing meaningful career growth through direct patient impact.

    Your day-to-day

    Annual Program Strategy & Planning

    • Execute comprehensive pre-event planning cycle including annual budget development, location assessment and securing, volunteer leader recruitment and training, and strategic partnership development with hotels, sponsors, and community organizations.
    • Transform program goals into detailed execution plans with clear timelines, milestone tracking, and contingency strategies for multiple annual events across diverse geographic markets.
    • Work with Marketing & Communications to develop integrated marketing campaigns that drive registration, community awareness, and sponsor engagement across multiple channels and demographics.

    Event Execution & Management

    • Pre-Event Operations: Coordinate speaker confirmations, venue logistics, volunteer briefings, material preparation, and staff scheduling to ensure flawless event delivery across multiple locations.
    • Real-Time Support: Provide morning-of-event availability and troubleshooting support for on-site staff and volunteers, ensuring smooth execution across simultaneous events.
    • Post-Event Excellence: Execute comprehensive follow-up including data collection, sponsor fulfillment, attendee engagement, and performance analysis to drive continuous improvement.

    Community Partnership & Stakeholder Management

    • Sponsor & Vendor Relations: Manage complex partnership agreements, ensure compliance with sponsorship benefits, and coordinate vendor participation to enhance educational value.
    • National Partner Coordination: Facilitate communication and logistics with presenting partners, including material distribution, discount code management, and benefit fulfillment.
    • Local Community Building: Foster relationships with healthcare providers, patient advocacy groups, and community organizations to expand reach and program sustainability.

    Volunteer Leadership Development

    • Lead monthly volunteer leadership meetings that foster peer collaboration and innovative brainstorming among local community ambassadors.
    • Recruit, train, and empower volunteer leaders who serve as local community ambassadors, ensuring sustainable presence and culturally relevant programming.
    • Provide ongoing support and development opportunities for volunteer leaders to enhance their advocacy skills and community impact.

    Program Innovation & Growth

    • Educational Program Development: Design and implement innovative educational experiences like "Get Ready with Me" sessions and enhanced MG Experience demonstrations that evolve with patient needs and conduct monthly Zoom webinars as an ongoing educational initiative designed to educate and engage the MG community nationwide.
    • Performance Analytics: Track attendance, engagement, satisfaction, and outcomes to inform strategic decisions and demonstrate community-level impact.
    • Scalability Planning: Develop frameworks and processes that support program expansion while maintaining quality standards and local community relevance.

    Technology & Process Management

    • CRM & Data Management: Utilize Virtuous and other platforms to create seamless registration experiences, track engagement metrics, and maintain comprehensive attendee and volunteer databases.
    • Process Optimization: Implement scalable systems and workflows that support program growth while maintaining quality standards and compliance requirements.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing & Communications, Finance, and Program teams to ensure integrated approach to community engagement.

    What You Bring

    Must-Haves

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (master's degree in public health, nonprofit management, or related field preferred).
    • 3-5+ years of demonstrated experience in event management, community engagement, public health programming, or related nonprofit roles.
    • Proven success in managing multiple simultaneous events with complex logistics and diverse stakeholder groups.
    • Experience with volunteer recruitment, training, and leadership development.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse audiences including patients, families, healthcare providers, and corporate partners.
    • Proficiency with CRM systems, event management platforms, and database management.
    • Comfort with 30% travel schedule including weekend events and multi-city coordination.

    Should-Haves

    • Experience in healthcare, rare disease, or patient advocacy environments.
    • Background in community health education and program development.
    • Understanding of patient advocacy principles and healthcare system navigation.
