Admin/Human Resource Assistant (Temp – 6 months)
ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE COOPERATION TRUST FUND (MCTF)
The Maintenance Cooperation Trust Fund (MCTF) is a California statewide watchdog organization that works to abolish illegal and unfair business practices in the janitorial industry. Working with enforcement agencies, the MCTF drives the process of enforcing the law to expose the unfair advantage law breakers gain over their
law-abiding competitors. Over the years, the MCTF has been effective in exposing systemic unfair business practices and rampant labor exploitation.
The MCTF is currently searching for a statewide Admin/HR Assistant for a 6-month temporary position. The Administrative / Human Resources Assistant will perform administrative support for MCTF and will assist with general administrative and human resources functions including but not limited to payroll, maintenance of personnel files and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations; preparing reports, coordinating meetings and travel arrangements and general administrative support. This position will work under the direction of the Executive Director.
Location: Preference is Los Angeles but position can be based in any one of our six area offices; Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, Alameda, Sacramento or San Jose. This is a confidential, non-bargaining unit position. Candidates must be fluent in Spanish.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office;
- Process payroll and expenses;
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documents;
- Coordinate meetings and travel arrangements;
- Maintain filing systems, both electronic and physical;
- Order office supplies and maintain inventory;
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed;
- Assist in the recruitment and selection process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, and conducting interviews;
- Assist in coordinating new employee onboarding and orientation programs;
- Administer employee benefits programs and respond to employee inquiries;
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations;
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures;
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters;
- Assist with employee training and development initiatives;
- Handle employee relations issues and assist in conducting investigations as necessary.
Requirements:
- Experience as an administrative or human resources assistant or similar role;
- Must be fluent in Spanish and English;
- Familiarity with ADP;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages;
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize taskseffectively;
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
- Life experience with the janitorial industry or other low wage industry;
- Commitment to transformational change, worker rights and social justice;
- Experience working in diverse environments;
- California Driver’s License, Car insurance and reliable car required.
