    Our youth programming is centered around jewish cultural traditions rooted in social justice. Our core youth programs include our pre-k-7 Sunday School (Shule), our Teens Acting for Social Change program and our free tot drop-in family program (Circle Playtime).

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Recruitment and Retention Coordinator works collaboratively with a member-led Shule Committee, Education Director and Executive Director to support our Youth Education Programming (Shule Pre-K-7 Sunday School program, Teens Acting for Social Change Program and Circle Playtime) to meet its growth goals over the next 2 years (2025/26 school year, 2026/2027 school year). The coordinator is responsible for creating program growth and family retention strategies and plans for our youth programming in addition to facilitating the plans’ implementation. Our orientation to this role is that it is fundamentally an organizing project and the role will need to collaborate deeply with members of the Shule community and leverage existing networks. This position will run through August 2027 with the potential for extension based on continued funding.

    This position will be supervised by the Executive Director and work in close collaboration with the Education Director.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Community Outreach and Recruitment of New Families:

    • Generate 3 year recruitment strategy to meet growth goals in partnership with members of Shule committee and Education director
    • Maintain and grow list of prospective families
    • Identify next steps for relationship building for prospective families and ensure next steps are implemented
    • Bottom line outreach and recruitment events such as open houses, recruit potential families to attend children’s education related events (i.e Khanike/ Hannukah party, Purim party, Hey (5th grade) solidarity protest)
    • Developing the leadership of current Shule parents to take on identifying and recruiting new families
    • Grow and support existing Shule recruitment team to leverage existing Shule networks in order to identify new avenues for outreach and recruitment, meeting prospective families where they are
    • Support the development of outreach materials
    • Create and implement communications plan for outreach
    • Create sustainable systems that can be utilized for Shule recruitment and retention
    • Attend occasional Sunday Shule, TASC, and Circle Playtime sessions to meet with parents and run recruitment + retention programs

    Support Shule Family Retention:

    • Create retention plans for new families during their first year of Shule and ensure steps are implemented
    • Work with a team of parents and Education director to identify and implement action steps such as mentoring new families and creating 1-2 events to deepen their connection to the community
    • Connect new and potential families to Shule and BWC community events

    KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 2 years experience in community-based or labor organizing;
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Relational skills and patience
    • Accountability to those they are working with and to meeting goals
    • Organized and self motivated with excellent follow through
    • Investment in BWC’s approach to youth and children’s educational programming
    • Ability to engage people around a shared goal and vision
    • Experience with event planning
    • Familiarity with Jewish community and working with interfaith, multi-racial and multicultural families
    • Responsive and positive team player who enjoys versatility and constant new challenges
    • Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings, including in person in Brookline on Shule Sundays and open house events
