    ABOUT LMCC

LMCC is Manhattan’s Arts Council—a dynamic non-profit organization with a 50 year history of supporting and connecting artists and communities throughout Manhattan.

Founded in 1973, LMCC serves hundreds of artists and tens of thousand of audiences each year through robust Re-granting and Artist Residency Programs as well as a dynamic calendar of free public art events throughout Manhattan and at the Arts Center at Governors Island—a 40,000 square foot arts center that is activated year round with public programs and art exhibitions.

We are a 15 person team of passionate and devoted arts leaders and administrators, providing funding, studio and rehearsal space, professional development, and leadership in cultural planning and advocacy. All activities and operations are supported by a $6M budget and the leadership of an engaged Board of Directors.

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

LMCC seeks a full-time Senior Development Manager to serve as a key system-oriented project lead in a high-impact development department. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, this role acts as a project manager and strategic partner to support the execution of fundraising activities across Institutional and Individual priorities. The Senior Manager will be responsible for managing the grants calendar, contributing directly to the drafting of proposals and reports, and tracking deadlines across all income streams.

This role is ideal for an adaptable fundraising professional with a "no task too big or too small" mentality and a background in project management. The ideal candidate will combine strong writing skills and a track record of successful grant management with the operational rigor necessary to act as a project lead, ensuring the team meets its financial goals.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Institutional Giving (Foundations, Corporate, & Government) (70%)

    • Grant Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of institutional support, from initial research and tracking deadlines to the final submission of proposals and reports. Act as project manager to coordinate cross departmentally with Program and Finance teams to gather necessary data, budgets, and project updates in a timely manner.
    • Writing & Editing: Work with the Director of Institutional Giving to draft and edit compelling grant narratives, LOIs, and stewardship reports.
    • Compliance: Work with the programming team to ensure all grant-related requirements are met, including credit line fulfillment, final reporting, crediting, and project tracking.
    • Pipeline Strategy: Proactively manage and build the organization’s prospect list. Identify new foundations and corporations using research tools.
    • Prospect Strategy: Do detailed research on new foundation prospects, with an angle towards LMCC’s value-add, to support the Director of Institutional Giving in building new revenue streams.

Departmental Operations & Project Management (30%)

    • Project & Workflow Leadership: Serve as the central project manager for the Development department, maintaining the comprehensive master calendar for all institutional grants, individual appeals, and special events with an eye toward improving coordination and efficiency.
    • Database Support: Work with Development Assistant to maintain CRM (Salesforce); support gift processing, acknowledgment workflows, and data hygiene. Work with the development team to generate regular fundraising reports and dashboards to track progress against annual goals.
    • Cross-Departmental Liaison: Act as a bridge between Development and other departments (Programs, Finance, Communications) to ensure a cohesive flow of information.
    • Process Improvement: Work with the Directors of Individual and Institutional Giving to evaluate and refine internal systems for donor tracking, moves management, and inter-departmental communication to increase efficiency.
    • Event Support: Support the execution of cultivation & institutional events, including LMCC’s annual Gala, through on-site assistance and event lead up as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in institutional giving and/or Development Operations, preferably with a cultural institution, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Exceptional project management skills.
    • Excellent organization and time-management skills, ability to track and meet deadlines, and meticulous attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational and verbal skills, and facility with budgets. Ability to compile, report and analyze information succinctly.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritizing work and managing multiple, diverse, and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
    • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
    • Proficiency using Google Workplace, Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
    • Knowledge of Salesforce and/or other CRM systems and fundraising platforms.
    • Passion for the arts and culture sector.

The salary for this position is $75,000.00 and includes an attractive benefits package including health coverage, dental and optional vision plans, life insurance, three (3) weeks of PTO, plus generous personal and sick days. Health benefits begin three (3) months after the first date of employment.
