    The STEM Program is expanding its reach by broadening engagement in science, technology, engineering, math, and health fields. By connecting education, mentorship, and community resources, the program inspires youth, families, and professionals to explore and lead in these areas, fostering skill development, confidence, and leadership to shape the future of health and STEM.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The STEM Associate is a part-time position (20 hours per week) that supports the coordination and implementation of Pathways to Science: A Role Model and Mentoring Program, based in Orlando, Florida. The program increases awareness of health and STEM career pathways through role model talks, immersive field trips, and mentorship experiences.

    Reporting to the STEM Program Manager, the Associate plays a key role in coordinating the mentorship program, managing administrative tasks, and supporting program implementation and partner engagement in Central Florida. The role supports bilingual (Spanish-English) engagement to inspire youth and families to explore health and STEM fields, fostering professional connections that encourage mentorship and leadership development.

    ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES

    Program Administration and Grant Support

    • Provide administrative and logistical support for program deliverables, including scheduling, contracts, payment requests, reimbursements, and expense tracking.
    • Maintain organized records across Google Drive, Monday.com, Salesforce, and other digital systems to ensure compliance with grant reporting and evaluation requirements.
    • Support data entry and documentation for research and evaluation activities.
    • Assist with program communications and materials development by attending STEM communications meetings and coordinating translation and design inputs.
    • Support the preparation of funder reports.
    • Coordinate administrative support for the Advisory Committee, including outreach, scheduling, presentations, and follow-up tasks.

    Mentorship Program Coordination

    • Lead coordination of the Pathways to Science mentorship program, including mentor/mentee recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling monthly sessions.
    • Support the design and continuous improvement of mentorship curriculum, resources, and engagement activities.
    • Track participation and engagement, ensuring mentors and mentees receive consistent communication and support.
    • Assist with program logistics such as virtual meetings, field trips, guest speakers, and mentor payments.
    • Help organize digital tools and resources for the program’s internal intranet or shared portal.

    Community and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Maintain organized contact lists and data systems to support outreach with mentors, role model speakers, educators, and community or faith-based partners.
    • Coordinate with the local partner site in Orlando to support outreach, logistics, and coordination of role model speakers.
    • Provide technical support for virtual meetings, newsletters, and communications through platforms like Pardot and Form Assembly.
    • Support planning for educational and outreach events and field experiences that connect youth, mentors, and families.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in science, education, health, or a related STEM field preferred; or equivalent experience.
    • 2–3 years of experience in program coordination, youth engagement, or community-based initiatives.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting awareness and participation in health, health research, and STEM career pathways
    • Experience supporting mentorship, education, or out-of-school-time programs serving youth or young adults.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with educators, mentors, families, and community partners.
    • Bilingual (Spanish and English) verbal and written proficiency required to deliver bilingual programming and communication.
    • Familiarity with digital platforms such as Google Workspace, Salesforce, Monday.com, Canva, and Form Assembly preferred (trainable skills).
    • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment with occasional travel and participation in local community meetings, workshops, and events.

    LOCATION

    The location is remote with regular in-person activities in the Orlando, Florida area. Some evening or weekend activities may occur (10–15% of the time, depending on the season).

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    • Hourly rate: $26.00-$32.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    • Part-time positions are ineligible for the standard employee health, dental, vision insurance benefits; however, they will be eligible to participate in the 401K plan with employer match.
