    Amargosa Conservancy seeks qualified candidates to serve as Deputy Director of Amargosa Conservancy. This full-time remote position will work with the Executive Director to oversee daily operations across all sectors of the Conservancy’s work.

    Amargosa Conservancy is a California and Nevada 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Shoshone, California with over 1,900 members and supporters. We have been the leading voice for conservation in the Amargosa River watershed for more than two decades. Amargosa Conservancy is dedicated to standing up for the wilds, waters, biodiversity, and communities of the scenic Amargosa River watershed. We engage in advocacy, education, science, and stewardship in order to promote the long-term health of the Amargosa River, its communities, and its extraordinary biodiversity.

    The Deputy Director works alongside the Executive Director to oversee daily operations at Amargosa Conservancy. This role supervises and executes core functions including restoration program, finance, administration, development, and communications, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and accurate reporting.

    As second-in-command, the Deputy Director provides leadership and support to staff and contractors, manages workplans and budgets, and aligns projects with organizational goals. A key responsibility includes supervision of the organization’s restoration program involving multi-year grant-funded restoration projects. The Deputy Director will serve as the primary supervisor for term AC staff working on this program, and will report progress on these projects to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and funders.

    In addition, the Deputy Director will partner with the Executive Director, bookkeeper, and Treasurer on annual budgeting, cash-flow monitoring, financial reporting, and audits, while strengthening internal systems such as policies, HR, risk management, contracts, and compliance with funder and agency requirements.

    The position also assists the Executive Director to shape external communications including social media, maintains strong relationships with agencies, Tribes, governments, and partners, and provides support to the Board of Directors. Additional responsibilities include representing the Conservancy in public forums and providing coverage for the Executive Director when needed.

    Nivel de Idiomas

    Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate technical topics for diverse audiences.
