Full-time remote; U.S. preferred. We are prioritizing applications received by Feb 17th. See “Nuts and bolts” below for details.

Giving Green is hiring! We’re looking to grow our growth team—the team that manages our communications, marketing, and development efforts to raise more funds for high-impact climate work.

    Who is Giving Green?

We research and publicize highly effective giving opportunities in climate—that is, organizations doing impactful work with a strong need for additional funding—to empower everyone to move money towards high-impact solutions. Launched in 2019, Giving Green has moved over $56 million for highly effective climate initiatives, including $30.6 million disbursed directly through the Giving Green Fund since 2022.

We have landed press mentions in The Washington Post, Vox, The Atlantic, Time, and more. Our flagship “product” is our Top Climate Nonprofits, and we have also published work on corporate climate strategies and climate and ESG investing. We also work with businesses, foundations, and others to advise their climate giving under specific constraints, e.g. our guide for Australian donors who need to give to in-country charities.

Giving Green is in the midst of rapid growth. Our impact has so far been driven primarily by inbound interest—a wonderful problem to have!—but we believe that we can multiply our impact tenfold in the coming years with a proactive growth strategy that introduces our work to new audiences. You will be a key part of shaping that strategy and driving that impact.

    Who are we looking for?

A Growth (Marketing, Communications, and/or Development) Associate—we’ll shape this role’s title and responsibilities together. We have a preference for a role that’s more digital marketing-focused, but we are open to candidates with more development or general communications experience. We note that “Development” at Giving Green involves raising money for both our own operations as well as for our Top Climate Nonprofits and the Giving Green Fund.

You might be an early-career digital marketing professional with a sharp focus on execution and a readiness to iterate and learn across all growth channels, or you might be a mid-career development officer ready for a new challenge. Above all, we’re looking for someone who’s passionate about growing effective climate giving and ready to get their hands dirty to make that happen.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Digital Marketing & Comms:
      • Support GG’s overall communications and marketing efforts across owned, earned, and paid media channels, with a focus on audience growth and donor conversion.
      • Plan, build, and send Giving Green’s monthly newsletter.
      • Translate Giving Green’s research into accessible digital content, including blog posts, web pages, social content, and visual assets, often in collaboration with the research team.
      • Identify timely opportunities in climate news and philanthropy to create rapid-response content (e.g., blog posts, email sends, social threads, media pitches).
      • Make our research accessible and transparent: edit and polish research documents for publication-readiness, propose and create new products that translate our research ideas for a wider audience.
      • Maintain and optimize Giving Green’s Webflow-based website, including content updates, basic UX improvements, and coordination with a contracted Webflow developer for more complex changes.
      • Support the creation and optimization of landing pages for donations, reports, or special initiatives.
      • Use tools such as Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and Search Console to monitor performance, identify drop-off points, and recommend improvements to content and user flows.
      • Own experimentation and testing (e.g., subject lines, CTAs, landing page copy) to improve engagement and conversion over time.
      • Coordinate with external vendors, partners, and GG’s recommended organizations where appropriate.
    • Development
      • Support Giving Green’s development strategy across individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners, particularly through digital touchpoints.
      • Help steward the donor journey by supporting email communications, donor-facing materials, and follow-up processes.
      • Represent Giving Green in climate and philanthropy spaces (online and occasional in-person events) to build relationships with potential supporters.
      • Serve as a champion for the research product, able to understand and translate wonky, technical ideas to a wide variety of audiences.
      • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential supporters of our recommended nonprofits or of GG itself, and steward the donor journey with donors small and large.
      • Support the growth team in finding and organizing events for GG to engage with the broader climate and philanthropy communities.
      • Support the creation and maintenance of development materials, including pitch decks, annual reports, grant proposals, and impact updates.
      • Work with growth and operations teammates to maintain accurate records in our CRM, support donor acknowledgements, and help track fundraising performance.

    Required Qualifications

    • 2+ years of professional experience in digital marketing, communications, and/or development roles, ideally in a mission-driven organization.
    • Hands-on experience executing digital marketing across one or more channels, such as email, website, social media, SEO, or paid advertising.
    • Demonstrated success growing a digital audience or driving engagement and conversions (e.g., email list growth, website traffic, donations, sign-ups).
    • Experience building and analyzing campaigns using tools such as Google Analytics, Mailchimp (or similar ESP), CRM or marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot).
    • Experience running or supporting paid digital campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta, Reddit), with an understanding of CTR, conversion rates, and basic optimization.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience translating complex or technical topics for a general audience.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects independently, set timelines, and collaborate cross-functionally on a small team.
    • Entrepreneurial spirit, passion for taking action on climate change, and strong values aligned with Giving Green’s values

Desired qualifications: We are especially interested in candidates who bring some subset of the following experiences. We know that strong candidates may not check all boxes, but we are looking for strength in some areas and a willingness to grow in others.

    • Experience in climate or environmental issues and knowledge of key stakeholders and changemakers.
    • Experience with donor development, fundraising, or donor relations, including 1:1 stewardship.
    • Experience securing earned media coverage or supporting PR and media outreach.
    • Experience with SEO, content strategy, or conversion rate optimization (CRO).
    • Comfort working with Webflow, basic HTML/CSS, or collaborating closely with web developers.
    • Experience with A/B testing, audience segmentation, or marketing automation.
    • Familiarity with CRMs (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Airtable-based systems).

What is it like to work here?

    Our culture:

    • We have a nonprofit-startup mentality: we’re a small team with lean operations, where everyone is wearing several hats. We strive to do more with less, whether it’s using LLM tools to quickly iterate on marketing copy or finding free event venues through friends and colleagues.
    • We value transparency and nuance. We publish our research and methods—and even our mistakes! We’re open about our uncertainties, biases, and constructive feedback.
    • We’re fully remote. Because our team currently spans 11 timezones, you may be expected to take calls outside of your standard working hours, with advance notice. Otherwise, you will have a lot of autonomy in how you structure your workday. We value work-life balance and respect your offline time, whether it’s daily childcare or a summer vacation.
    • We stay connected through all-hands meetings, a regular reading group, and a Slack channel full of memes. And we meet in person twice a year for a 3-day retreat!

    Nuts and bolts:

    • We are a fully remote team. Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the country in which they will be based. We prefer a candidate in the U.S., but are flexible for a candidate who brings a strong background in digital marketing and would take on a more marketing-focused role.
    • This is an exempt position.
    • We are primarily seeking someone to fill a “full-time” exempt position at 4 or 5 days a week.
    • Compensation is competitive for the non-profit sector, and will be tailored to the location and experience of the applicant. As a benchmark, for a full-time (5-day week), U.S.-based hire, we are targeting $60,000-$85,000, with some flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
    • If you have a salary requirement, please indicate this in your application.
    • Benefits are competitive for the non-profit sector: for U.S. candidates, this includes fully covered health, dental, and vision; a 4% unconditional 401(k) contribution; 20+ days of PTO plus public holidays; productivity and professional development stipends; and more.
    • Our team members can choose to work 4 or 5-day work weeks, with salary and some benefits adjusted accordingly. (Most of us are on a 4-day week!: this is 0.8 FTE, not a “4/10” setup of four 10-hour workdays.)

We want to make a major difference in the movement to stop climate change, and you could play a crucial role in advancing our mission.

To apply, please complete the application on Airtable.

Any questions should be directed here. Our application process consists of a 15-minute screen, a 2-3 hour work task, and two 1-hour interviews.
