    Position Summary

    The Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator is vital in connecting with community members and volunteers to raise awareness of and support for Verde’s mission. The candidate will assist in recruiting program participants for our advocacy, social enterprise, education, and engagement initiatives. The coordinator will work with the Director of Development and Communications to expand our reach to different audiences and communities. They will help launch a new volunteer program to partner with community members to broaden Verde’s capacity.

    The ideal candidate enjoys working with the public and has excellent interpersonal skills. They want to help raise awareness about environmental harms and how they impact community members. The person will be responsible for recruiting activists, community storytellers, program participants, and volunteers. They will help manage volunteers and logistics at Verde’s events. They will participate in coalition work with partner organizations to uplift community needs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Percentages are approximate):

    Community Outreach (35%)

    • Cultivate relationships with community members, organizations, and businesses.
    • Recruit program participants, activists, supporters, and volunteers to support Verde’s programmatic goals.
      • A major focus will be recruiting homeowners for Verde’s Home Heating and Cooling program and signing up households for Community Solar.
    • Enhance Verde’s brand visibility and awareness of all of our work through in person engagement at community events, conferences, and public forums.
    • Identify events and organizations to table and present Verde’s mission.
    • Develop and implement outreach strategies that ensure inclusivity and accessibility, aiming to reach a broad spectrum of communities.

    Program Support (20%)

    • Engage in relevant coalition work by attending meetings, engaging relevant Verde staff and stakeholders.
    • Help provide logistical support at events for the program and development teams.
    • Assist program teams in reaching out and coordinating community members.

    Volunteer Coordination (20%)

    • Help launch Verde’s volunteer program. As we start this program, the scale and time demands of the below tasks will be relatively small due to a small pool of volunteers.
    • Work with program staff to identify relevant volunteer opportunities and recruit volunteers to these positions.
    • Develop volunteer descriptions and training plans.
    • Assist the Director of Development and Communications in training staff to work with volunteers.
    • Steward volunteer relationships on behalf of the organization.
    • Uplift interpersonal challenges with volunteers to the Director of Development and Communications.
    • Manage volunteer records in EveryAction (Verde’s CRM), create volunteer forms, and post them on the volunteer page.

    Content Creation (15%)

    • Create promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and information packets to educate the public and stakeholders on program efforts, benefits, participation, and project success.
    • Work with the Communications Coordinator to digitally promote Verde events via email and social media.

    Administrative and other duties as assigned (10%)

    • Attend internal staff meetings and events.
    • Participate in position-relevant meetings and organizational committees.
    • Perform other duties and functions as necessary or as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 2 years of experience in nonprofit organizations or comparable education.
    • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with CANVA or a similar design software.
    • Experience working with volunteers.
    • Familiarity with databases for volunteer management purposes.
    • Experience with public speaking in English and Spanish

    Working Conditions

    • Verde implements a hybrid work model. At least one day a week will be required to work at the office.
    • This work can require minor physical exertion, but there may be situations that require being outdoors in all weather conditions and uneven terrain.
    • Some weekend and evening work will be required ].
    • Work is often fast-paced and requires attention to multiple detailed projects with deadlines.

    Compensación

    Verde provides 100% employee premiums for medical and dental. Employees start with 80 hours of vacation time, 60 hours of sick leave, 4 personal days, and 13 holidays.
