    Public Justice, a national public interest organization, seeks to hire an experienced human resources (HR) professional to manage and support all HR policies and procedures of the organization. Public Justice is a legal advocacy organization that pursues high-impact lawsuits to combat social and economic injustice, protect the Earth’s sustainability, and challenge predatory corporate conduct and government abuses.

    Position Overview

    The Senior Manager, People & Culture supports and partners with the Vice President, People &

    Culture to implement people-focused strategies and manage day-to-day human resources operations. This role is responsible for advancing core HR functions, including employee relations,

    recruitment, benefits administration, compliance, and people analytics, while helping foster a thriving, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture.

    The Senior Manager also assists in the development and coordination of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) efforts, working collaboratively to embed equity principles into talent practices, communications, and organizational culture.

    Job Responsibilities

    Under the direct supervision of the Vice President of People & Culture, the Senior Manager,

    People & Culture will focus on and handle day-to-day management of all matters pertaining to HR

    policies and procedures, including employee relations issues. Responsibilities will include the

    following:

    HR Strategy & Partnership

    • Collaborate with the VP, People & Culture to implement HR strategies that align with organizational goals and values.
    • Serve as a resource and partner to managers across departments on HR matters such as hiring, performance management, employee engagement, and compliance.
    • Assist with the execution of people-centered initiatives that promote employee growth, well-being, and belonging.

    Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA)

    • Support the VP in managing and tracking DEIA programs, initiatives, and training.
    • Coordinate efforts to integrate equity and accessibility into talent processes, employee communications, and organizational culture.
    • Assist with gathering and analyzing DEIA-related data and support the development of reporting and accountability tools.
    • Promote inclusive practices in hiring, onboarding, and employee development.

    Talent Management & Employee Engagement

    • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process for staff positions, ensuring an equitable and inclusive candidate experience.
    • Partner with hiring managers to define job needs, coordinate interviews, and onboard new hires effectively.
    • Help manage employee performance review processes, including tracking, communication, and documentation.
    • Support the design and implementation of employee engagement and recognition programs.

    Total Rewards & Benefits

    • Administer benefits programs and coordinate annual benefits renewals and open enrollment processes.
    • Provide support in reviewing compensation and benefits data and offering recommendations to ensure competitiveness and equity.
    • Respond to employee inquiries about benefits, leave, and related policies.

    Compliance & Policy Management

    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
    • Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
    • Help manage sensitive employee relations matters and support investigations and resolutions as needed.

    HR Operations & Data

    • Utilize HR systems to maintain accurate employee data and streamline HR processes.
    • Compile, analyze, and report on key HR metrics such as turnover, engagement, and DEIA indicators.
    • Help develop and maintain efficient documentation, tracking, and reporting systems.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Minimum of 7 years of work experience with 5 years of progressive HR experience, including generalist or business partner responsibilities.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws, HR operations, and inclusive HR practices.
    • Experience supporting or implementing DEIA initiatives is strongly preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to confidentiality and integrity.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS platforms.

    Salary

    Public Justice offers a mission-focused work environment, a teamwork-oriented approach, and a competitive compensation package. This is an exempt position with an expected annual salary range of $95,000 to $120,000, depending on experience.
