Key Responsibilities
- Media Relations & Strategic Storytelling
- Earned Media Generation: Develop and maintain strong relationships with top-tier global media outlets, scientific journals, and culture editors to secure high-impact press coverage for the Club’s initiatives and member discoveries.
- Public Relations Campaigns: Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson; craft press releases, media kits, and talking points for major organizational announcements and corporate-sponsored partnerships.
- Crisis & Governance Communications: Provide proactive risk management and rapid-response messaging regarding organizational governance, property developments, or sensitive internal matters to ensure institutional stability and brand integrity.
- Digital Content & Brand Architecture
- Multi-Channel Strategy: Oversee content development across the Club’s digital ecosystem, ensuring a cohesive brand voice across the website, email newsletters, and premium social media channels.
- Asset Amplification: Collaborate with scientific committees and field researchers to broadcast active expeditions, archiving historical milestones and current field studies for public consumption.
- Sponsor Integration: Craft sophisticated co-branded messaging alongside elite corporate partners and sponsors to maximize corporate visibility while preserving institutional prestige.
- Internal & Membership Communications
- Global Chapter Alignment: Coordinate closely with national and international chapters and project boards (including the UK/London expansion teams) to maintain absolute message alignment across cross-border operations.
- Member Engagement: Author executive correspondence, board summaries, and premium organizational updates for the global membership base to drive community retention and elite founding patron engagement.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media management, preferably within high-end non-profit institutions, prestigious private members' clubs, or global scientific organizations.
- Media Record: Proven track record of securing high-profile placements in international press (e.g., New York Times, BBC, Financial Times, National Geographic, Discovery).
- Executive Presence: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the poise required to interface directly with board trustees, high-net-worth benefactors, corporate executives, and international dignitaries.
- Crisis Management: Demonstrated experience handling complex corporate governance communications and managing delicate legal or public relations challenges with discretion and a zero-tolerance approach to brand compromise.
- Mission Alignment: A deep, authentic passion for geography, field science, history, and the spirit of exploration.
