    Job Description: Data and Reporting Coordinator

    The Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco (HRCSF) is a tenants’ rights non-profit serving tenants citywide since 1979, offering free counseling and organizing support for San Francisco tenants in all types of housing, including rent-control, public housing, and Section 8. Our purpose is to strengthen tenants’ rights, improve living conditions for renters, and preserve and expand affordable housing opportunities. Through our counseling program, we support more than 5,000 tenants a year, and our organizing program has helped build five tenant associations across the city since 2019.

    Position Summary:

    The Data and Reporting Coordinator supports HRCSF’s counseling and organizing programs by maintaining accurate data systems, supporting contract reporting and compliance, and helping staff use data to strengthen their work. This role is responsible for categorizing and quality-checking case data, maintaining internal databases and website content, and supporting the organization in organizing, analyzing, and interpreting program data, which will be used for external communications, development, and internal program evaluation.

    Working closely with counseling, organizing, development, and leadership staff, the Data and Reporting Coordinator ensures that outreach, services, tenant education, and campaign work are accurately tracked and aligned with program goals and funder requirements, and contributes to ongoing process improvement.

    Essential Functions:

    • Maintain and manage HRCSF’s data systems by entering, updating, and organizing data across databases (e.g., Knack/CRM, Google Sheets), supporting data tracking for organizing and outreach work, and ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and up to date
    • Support counseling case classification and quality control by reviewing counseling data for completeness and consistency, flagging issues for follow-up, and improving data entry practices across staff
    • Prepare and support contract and grant reporting by compiling data, generating reports, writing narratives, and ensuring alignment with funder requirements
    • Support staff in using data effectively by organizing information, identifying trends, and helping translate data into insights that inform program decisions
    • Maintain website content and data integration by updating Know Your Rights materials, resources, and program information as needed
    • Collaborate across departments to improve data systems, workflows, and consistency, and assist with database improvements, transitions, and system implementation
    • Provide general administrative and program support related to data, reporting, development and organizational operations

      • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and consistent data
      • Ability to absorb and apply technical systems and data processes quickly
      • Strong organizational and time management skills

      • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify inconsistencies or gaps
      • Ability to organize, interpret, and communicate data clearly to staff with varying levels of technical familiarity
      • Initiative and curiosity to improve data systems, workflows, and reporting practices
      • Clear written and verbal communication skills
    • Essential Qualifications and Experience
      • Experience with data entry, database management, or administrative systems
      • Familiarity with databases, CRMs (e.g., Knack, Action Network, etc), and Google Workspace or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
      • Experience supporting reporting processes, including compiling data and generating report narratives and summaries
      • Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
      • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
      • Deep political alignment and commitment to social, housing, and racial justice
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly
    • Preferred Qualities
      • Experience with nonprofit data systems, case management databases, or CRM platforms
      • Experience with contract or grant reporting for publicly funded programs (e.g., City and County of San Francisco)
      • Experience supporting program evaluation, data analysis, or outcome tracking
      • Experience maintaining or updating website content
      • Experience working in housing justice, tenant services, or community-based organizations
      • Experience supporting cross-departmental workflows and improving data systems

    Analysis of Physical Demands (Based on typical week):

    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

    This position is a full-time, non-exempt position with a current hourly pay rate of $36.54. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision (including chiropractic and acupuncture), generous paid vacation and sick time, and a supportive work environment that centers individual and collective care to ensure sustainability and longevity.

    This position is included in a collective bargaining unit represented by Office & Professional Employees International Union, Local 29. Specific employment terms are subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
