The Hunterdon Art Museum invites applications for a Visitor Services Coordinator. This position provides museum patrons with support services to enhance the visitor experience.
Responsibilities
- Collect admission fees, answer visitor questions and manage the flow of patrons
- Check galleries upon opening and at closing, turn on/off technology within exhibitions
- Ensure smooth functioning of the front desk, including maintaining an organized and professional space
- Supervise part-time visitor services staff and volunteers, providing training and scheduling.
- Accept mail, packages and deliveries of artwork
- Maintain museum shop including sales, consignment information and inventory, and displays
- Collaborate with Exhibitions Coordinator, Social Media Manager, and Director of Education on projects
- Document, Record and Input visitation data in spreadsheets
- Maintain lobby, museum shop and adjacent spaces
- Schedule building services in coordination with the Executive Director
- Order office supplies
- Review volunteer applications and interview applicants.
- Train and schedule volunteers
- Manage memberships
- Send correspondence to donors and members, including bulk mailings with Director of Development
- Greet all museum visitors warmly and provide a welcoming first impression.
- Answer phone inquiries and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Excellent Communications skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous customer service experience , especially in a museum or cultural organization
- Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office environment (MS 365 ; Word, Excel, Teams, etc.). Knowledge of a donor database is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, visitor-centered environment.
- Familiarity with contemporary art is a plus.
- Availability for occasional special events.
- Ability to lift and move boxes up to 25 pounds
Salary: $31,225 annually
