    Position Summary

    The Director of Finance and Operations will lead, drive, and maintain tactical and operational plans to ensure Samaritan’s Feet operates in a way to meet its goals, milestones, and budgets, as well as to advance its mission.

    The Director will provide strategic leadership for finance and organizational operations ensuring that Samaritan’s Feet has the internal systems and infrastructure in place to enable the organization to continue growing in alignment with the Founders’ and Board of Directors’ vision. At the same time, they will be a crucial steward of organizational values, resources, and culture.

    This role reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer and serves as staff liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Leadership

    • Serve on the Executive Leadership Team which is charged with translating the vision of the Board of Directors and CEO into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
    • Oversee planning and daily operations for key departments including finance, administration, operations, warehousing and logistics, and facilities management.
    • Provide leadership for direct reports including, but not limited to, assigning tasks, establishing work standards, monitoring progress and workflow, performance management, and employee development.
    • Manage and effectively balance conflicting priorities between the departments’ immediate needs and the priorities of longer-term organizational objectives.
    • Foster positive staff morale and an inclusive and collaborative environment to ensure alignment, knowledge sharing, and problem solving across the organization.
    • Actively facilitate team building and change readiness and resilience among staff.

    Finance

    • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Provide executive leadership of operational revenues, budgets, planning, procedures, processes, and service delivery.
    • Lead annual budgeting and planning process; administers and reviews all financial plans and compares actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
    • Lead the audit and completion of IRS 990 filings and other required Federal or State tax forms and registrations.
    • Maintain internal controls and safeguards accurate receipt and recording of revenue, costs, and program budgets in QuickBooks and Bloomerang CRM.
    • Manage organizational cash flow including effective forecasting by working in partnership with the department managers to anticipate changes in revenue and expense against budget.
    • Lead the reporting of all aged accounts payable, providing staff members with necessary documentation for invoicing and pledge data.
    • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes keeping senior leadership aware of Samaritan’s Feet financial status.
    • Approve all A/P transactions including signer on all bank accounts.
    • Monitor and track the performance of invested assets keeping CEO informed of material fluctuations in value.
    • Support the CEO in preparation for all board of directors’ meetings, including flagging issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.
    • Serve as staff liaison to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors
    • Oversee all required grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate necessary financial reports for all government, corporate, and foundation grants.
    • Serve as liaison on behalf of the CEO and the Board of Director to banks and financial institutions and partners regarding financial matters.

    Operations

    • Oversee the design, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures that will sustain operational and financial effectiveness.
    • Responsible for all operational compliance and risk management related to legal regulations and standards.
    • Supervise all warehouse operations and shipping logistics to maintain expenses related to fulfillment of domestic and international shipments, minimize inventory shrinkage, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
    • Work in tandem with Warehouse Manager to maintain vendor and service provider relationships including gift-in-kind donors.
    • Ensure facilities are well-maintained and meet both safety and operational standards of the organization.
    • Ensure that all security equipment and processes are continuously maintained to provide for the safety and protection of all Samaritan’s Feet people and property.
      • Serve as primary contact for all lessees ensuring that terms of leases are being maintained.
      • Oversee the implementation and use of technology to improve organizational efficiency.
      • Review and approve all contracts and commitments to ensure that the Samaritan’s Feet’s interests are protected.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • 10+ years of senior management experience working across key functional departments in complex non-profit organizations.
    • A strategic, analytical, and tactical thinker, with a record of success implementing strategic goals and priorities across an organization.
    • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment that values open communication and transparency.
    • A demonstrated passion for managing, developing, and coaching diverse teams; prioritizes building authentic and respectful relationships with all colleagues within an organization.
    • Confidence and capability to adapt and lead in a fast-paced, changing environment while also navigating ambiguity and change inherent to a fast-paced, evolving organization.
    • Effective and persuasive communicator, both oral and written, with exceptional emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
    • Desire to learn and lead Samaritan’s Feet distributions locally or globally for continued process improvement
