    Position: Associate Director of Development

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Conexión Américas seeks qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director of Development. The successful candidate will provide a pivotal role in directly supervising the positions of Development Coordinator and Community Engagement Manager. The Associate Director of Development is responsible for directly carrying out the organization’s individual and corporate fundraising strategies, and oversees our event and merchandise fundraising initiatives. The position will help develop, deepen and maintain donor relationships over time and lead the organization’s stewardship strategy. This position helps to advance Conexión Américas’ mission by sustaining and expanding our community of supporters and fostering relationships that result in long-lasting goodwill and financial support for our mission.

    This full-time position reports to the Senior Director of Development and Strategic Growth. Salary range based on experience and other relevant qualifications: $63,000-$65,000

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    Fundraising

    Work closely with the Senior Director of Development and Strategic Growth to:

    • Lead the individual fundraising strategy in order to meet the organizational fundraising goals by managing relationships with monthly donors and leading individual fundraising campaigns, such as our Annual Giving Campaign.
    • Support meeting the annual corporate fundraising goal by managing corporate sponsorships, managing the corporate engagement program and newsletter and coordinating corporate volunteers.
    • Conduct ongoing donor prospecting and research activities to advance the organization’s fundraising efforts.

    Stewardship

    • Lead donor stewardship strategy, including donor appreciation, thank-a-thon, and other stewardship initiatives.

    Data

    • Conduct statistical analysis following events and appeals with reports to the Development Team to increase effectiveness and inform improvement and growth.

    Event Planning

    • Provide guidance and logistical support for annual fundraisers such as Cafecito, Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration & Awards Ceremony, and other development events. Lead attendance strategy to ensure that event engagement goals are met.

    Leadership

    • Directly supervise the Community Engagement Manager and Development Coordinator.
    • Assist Senior Director of Development and Strategic Growth in setting annual goals and benchmarks.
    • Contribute to the identification of trends among our donor population as well as developments nationally and locally that impact our fundraising efforts. Design and implement responses to these changes and trends.
    • Serve as a representative for Conexión Américas to build and strengthen relationships and expand our supporter base by participating in booths and development-related speaking engagements, as needed.

    Community Engagement

    • Provide tours of Casa Azafrán.

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed above. As with every other position at Conexión Américas, every person in the organization will assist in any way necessary to respond to new demands and to ensure a cooperative environment.

    Qualifications (Education and Experience):

    • Bachelor's degree, required
    • Must be able to work certain evenings and weekends for development and organizational events
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising
    • Minimum 1 year of experience as a people manager and/or in an organizational leadership position
    • Capacity to thrive in a highly collaborative team environment
    • Must be comfortable conducting fundraising activities, including making asks via the phone, in-person and by other means of communication
    • Data-driven mindset and proficiency working with data systems, including CRMs, Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel and strong data management and reporting skills
    • Exceptional written and oral communications and public speaking skills
    • Ability to effectively build and nurture relationships with diverse individuals
    • Capacity to solve problems with energy and a positive attitude, required
    • Enjoys working in fast-paced work environments
    • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Willing and able to provide hands-on logistical support during event planning
    • Self-motivated, well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
    • Must pass background check
    • Must have access to reliable transportation
    • Understanding of Latino culture and Latino issues in the US, preferred

Our organization was founded in 2002 to address some of the most pressing challenges created by recent demographic changes in Middle Tennessee as an increasing number of Latino families come to this region searching for a better quality of life.

    • As applicable, some flexibility can take place on a regular 9-5 pm schedule from Mondays to Fridays, with occasional evenings or weekends, as needed
    • Ongoing training and development
    • The hybrid workplace model includes two flexible days working remotely from home and three days per week working in the office, subject to workload responsibilities and organizational needs.
