Habitat is an organization committed to building a diverse and inclusive organization which means that we recognize that sometimes the best candidate may have a less traditional background. We acknowledge that requirements for educational and experience minimums create invisible barriers for historically oppressed populations in pursuit of employment. Combined with our equity practices, we focus on candidates’ abilities to excel within the responsibilities of the position, based on their experience found inside and outside formal education and/or work history. We welcome applicants from all communities, and strongly encourage Black, indigenous, and people of color, women, people with disabilities, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQ+ community to apply for this position.
Who You Are:
If you are motivated by the opportunity to create lasting change through affordable homeownership, and you thrive on leading impactful real estate development projects from start to finish, then you could be our next Vice President for Real Estate Development. In this role, you will oversee the entire construction process, from real estate acquisition and energy-efficient building methods to securing final occupancy certificates and addressing post-construction warranty needs. You are comfortable managing a diverse portfolio of housing types, including single dwellings, duplexes, triplexes, and condos, and you excel at creating and refining systems and processes that ensure the consistent delivery of 60+ quality homes per year, while engaging both skilled tradespersons and untrained volunteers and homebuyers in the construction process.
You enjoy being part of a collaborative and mission-driven leadership team, working alongside the
CEO, COO, and other Vice Presidents to address the urgent challenge of high housing costs in our communities. Your support is crucial to maintaining Habitat for Humanity Portland Region’s organizational cadence and production goals, and your stakeholders include not only your fellow leaders, direct reports, and their Team Members but also the families and communities who benefit from your work. You are at your best when inspiring and guiding your 20+ person team, owning the responsibility for housing production, and contributing to an ambitious strategic vision that aims to uplift more people than ever before through sustainably affordable homeownership.
