    Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. We fight poverty through comprehensive social services and by treating each client with compassion, integrity, and respect. Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 325,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 120 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.

    Position Summary:

    The Director of Family Violence Services oversees the operations, management, and growth of the Family Violence Services Program, while also playing a key role in fundraising efforts. The program serves diverse clientele of survivors of intimate partner violence and sex trafficking throughout New York City. While Met Council serves all victims in need, the agency specializes in supporting clients from insular and Jewish communities. The director is responsible for the supervision and leadership of the program and its team of social workers and case workers, guiding its growth to meet the increased demand for services. This position also advises leadership on social policy matters related to family violence and is the primary point of contact for the agency in serving as an advocate for the needs of these communities. Additionally, the director acts as the primary liaison between the program and the development team.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the Family Violence Program including:
      • Providing supervision to administrative and clinical staff
      • Reviewing and approving financial assistance for clients
      • Developing and implementing internal policies, procedures, and workflows
      • Conducting regular performance evaluations and supporting the professional development of staff
    • Lead and collaborate on grant writing and development projects to expand the program’s reach and secure funding
    • Represent the Family Violence Program at key development functions
    • Support the development team in fundraising for the Family Violence Program
    • Advise agency leadership, including the Chief Operating Officer, on family violence-related policy matters
    • Manage the organization’s relationship with New York Family Justice Centers
    • Represent Met Council and actively participate, and when appropriate lead, city-wide task forces and meetings related to family violence
    • Provide training to staff and consult/train professionals at other agencies particularly at the JCCs and other UJA Network agencies. Perform ongoing outreach on related issues
    • Take primary responsibility for preparing and submitting grant and contract documents in addition to reports for the Family Violence Program
    • Ensure accurate submission of client applications with all necessary documentation
    • Additional responsibilities as required

    Competencies:

    • Excellent communication and clarity of role as both a clinician and coordinating professional.
    • Strong fundraising skills, with the ability to secure funding and develop strategic partnerships.
    • Ability to manage time, priorities, and resources to achieve goals.

    Skill and Education Required:

    • LCSW—SIFI eligible.
    • 5+ years of experience in the Social Services field with familiarity/specialization in domestic violence and Jewish communal work.
    • Previous experience in treating victims of trauma.
    • Strong organizational, management, interpersonal, writing, administrative, and budgeting skills.
    • Computer savvy with strong working knowledge of MS Office – especially Excel and Word - and other software programs.
    • Knowledge of client data tracking systems such as Salesforce.

    Special Requirements:

    • Must be willing to travel throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC by public transportation.
    • This position will be based out of our main office in the Financial District of Manhattan and conducts site visits throughout the five boroughs.

    Compensation: $90,000 to $105,000 per year.
