    Position Summary

SSN is launching a Data Support Pilot to add capacity for small organizations that lack dedicated data staff. The Data & Learning Manager will play a central role in this pilot, providing embedded, hands-on data support to a cohort of approximately five organizations.

This is a highly collaborative role that blends data management, analysis, and capacity-building. Reporting to the Director of Collaborative Improvement, the Data & Learning Manager will work directly with program staff and leaders to strengthen their data systems and help them use data to inform decisions and improve outcomes. Success in this role would mean that within the first year, participating organizations would have clear logic models, systems for collecting related data, and workflows to maintain data integrity. In year two, they should be iterating on those systems and using data routinely to strengthen outcomes.

This is a two-year position, aligned with the pilot timeline, with the potential to extend based on continued funding and the evolution of the model.

    Key Responsibilities

    Embedded Data Support (Org-Specific Work)

    • Provide ~6 hours/week of dedicated support to each cohort organization
    • Design and improve data collection and management systems
    • Clean, organize, and maintain program data
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis
    • Develop simple dashboards, reports, and data visualizations
    • Support funder reporting and data requests
    • Translate data into clear, actionable insights for staff and leadership

    Capacity Building & Training

    • Support organizations to build internal data skills through coaching program staff, leading data discussions, and more
    • Co-facilitate cohort-wide workshops on topics such as:
      • Logic models and theory of change
      • Selecting meaningful measures
      • Survey design and administration
      • Qualitative data collection and analysis
      • Using data for continuous improvement

    Cohort & Pilot Learning

    • Identify patterns, challenges, and successes across organizations
    • Contribute to documentation of pilot learnings and emerging best practices
    • Participate in SSN team reflection and continuous improvement processes

    Collaboration & Relationship Management

    • Build strong, trusting relationships with partner organizations
    • Balance multiple organizational contexts, needs, and priorities

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of experience in data management, analysis, or evaluation (preferably in education, youth development, or nonprofit settings)
    • Strong skills in data organization and analysis (e.g., Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with tools like Airtable, Salesforce, or similar)
    • Experience facilitating data-informed discussions with cross-functional teams
    • Experience designing surveys and working with both quantitative and qualitative data
    • Ability to translate data into clear, practical insights for non-technical audiences
    • Strong project management and organizational skills
    • Familiarity with continuous improvement approaches
    • Comfort navigating multiple stakeholders and adapting to different organizational contexts

    What We’re Looking For

    • A doer and a translator - someone who can both execute technical data tasks and help others understand and use data
    • A self-starter who is comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and navigating ambiguity in a pilot environment
    • A strong multitasker who can manage multiple priorities and organizational contexts at once
    • Someone who is practical and solutions-oriented, focused on what is useful and usable - not overly academic or theoretical
    • A strong communicator and listener who can meet organizations where they are with a customer service orientation and the ability to respond clearly, promptly, and supportively when participating organizations reach out
    • A deep commitment to equity with a critical lens for how data can help or harm students and organizations
    • An understanding of youth development and the challenges and opportunities facing youth-serving nonprofits
    • Someone who is excited by a non-traditional data role: this is not a purely analytical or back-end position, but one that blends data, relationship-building, and capacity-building
    • A collaborative team player who is excited about learning and iterating as part of a new model

We recognize that strong candidates may not meet every qualification listed above. If you’re excited about this role and believe you could be successful in it, we encourage you to apply.

    Compensación

    • Flexible work culture, including hybrid work setting and generous vacation policy
    • Being a part of a small but mighty team in addition to a larger network of the city’s most innovative and impactful nonprofits
    • Retirement & Healthcare Plans with employer contribution
