    Job Description:

    For 50 years, the Bureau Drawer Thrift Shop has been an important fundraiser for Interfaith Social Services’ various programs. Our boutique-style shop is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers. This position reports to the Thrift Shop Manager. The Assistant Manager is responsible for helping to supervise volunteers, sorting incoming donations, greeting donors, assisting with eBay sales, and general shop upkeep.

    Type of position: Part-time, per-diem, 18-20 hours per week. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9:30am – 3:30pm.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide impeccable customer service for donors and customers
    • Maintain a clean, attractive, and appealing shop
    • Uphold and enforce Interfaith’s ideals of equity and inclusion in all interactions with customers, donors and volunteers
    • Supervise shop volunteers
    • Act as a backup cashier for volunteers
    • Ensure that donors are acknowledged and that they receive a donation receipt
    • Sort donations for quality, cleanliness and working order.
    • Utilize Interfaith’s pricing methodology to prepare inventory for sale
    • Manage clothing storage and warehouse inventory
    • Conduct daily team meetings with the volunteers before each shift
    • Train new volunteers
    • You may be asked to assist in researching, posting or processing for online sales via our eBay store

    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate is a compassionate, creative and self-motivated person. They must be reliable, highly detail-oriented, and a proven team player with excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.

    • Retail sales and or merchandise management experience required.
    • Ability to work with, manage and motivate a diverse group of volunteers.
    • Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds to assist in transporting donations as needed; must be able to go up and down stairs repeatedly
    • Comfortable using technology. Ex. Facebook/social media, Microsoft Excel and Word. Ebay experience a plus

    Salary: $23 an hour
