    Executive Director

The Center for Empowerment and Education

    Danbury, Connecticut | On-Site

Lead With Purpose. Shape the Next 50 Years.

For 50 years, The Center for Empowerment and Education (CEE) has stood as the sole provider of domestic and sexual violence services in Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield Counties. Each year, CEE serves more than 25,000 individuals through confidential, no-cost services available 24/7/365.

As we enter our next chapter, we seek an inspiring and strategic Executive Director to lead this vital organization forward — strengthening operations, expanding community impact, and deepening financial sustainability.

    This Is a Defining Moment.

For 50 years, The Center for Empowerment and Education (CEE) has been the trusted, sole provider of domestic and sexual violence services in Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield Counties. As the organization marks this milestone anniversary, it stands strong —respected, deeply rooted in the community, and serving more than 25,000 individuals each year.

Now, CEE is ready for its next era of leadership. CEE is entering an exciting phase of growth with the launch of its Extended Therapy Program, a strategic expansion that broadens long-term trauma-informed services while strengthening financial sustainability through diversified revenue. This initiative enhances CEE’s continuum of care, expands service capacity, and positions the organization for greater impact and stability in the years ahead in addition to solidifying CEE as both a leader in trauma-informed care and a training ground for the next generation of advocates and therapists.

This is an opportunity for a mission-driven executive to build on a powerful legacy and shape the future of violence prevention, survivor advocacy, and community education in the region.

Why This Role — Why Now?

      • 50-Year Legacy, Forward Momentum – Join an organization with credibility, community trust, and a proven track record — and help define its next chapter.
      • Clear Mission Impact – Lead a team providing 24/7/365 life-changing services, emergency shelter, prevention education, and human trafficking support.
      • Board Partnership & Community Backing – Work alongside an engaged Board and a community that understands and values CEE’s role.
      • Opportunity to Strengthen Sustainability – Expand fundraising, enhance operational excellence, and position CEE for long-term growth.
      • Visible, Influential Leadership – Serve as the face of the organization in a region where your leadership will directly shape safer communities.

This is a rare opportunity to lead an essential organization at a moment of reflection, renewal, and strategic possibility.

    The Role

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will:

      • Set and execute strategic priorities aligned with mission and vision
      • Lead, inspire, and develop a dedicated staff and volunteer team
      • Strengthen financial sustainability and fundraising across diverse revenue streams
      • Ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance
      • Serve as a visible community leader and advocate
      • Build partnerships across local, state, and federal stakeholders
      • This leader will balance empathy with accountability, vision with execution, and community presence with disciplined management.

    The Leader We Seek

    You are:

      • A seasoned nonprofit executive (5+ years senior leadership experience; multi-program and $2M+ budget preferred)
      • A proven fundraiser with demonstrated revenue growth experience
      • Financially savvy and comfortable partnering with finance leadership and a Board
      • An inclusive, culturally competent leader committed to trauma-informed practices
      • A strong communicator who builds trust across staff, donors, public officials, and community partners
      • Energized by visible, community-centered leadership
      • Comfortable navigating technology and modern digital tools
      • A master’s degree in social services, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
      • Strong ties to the Danbury/Northern Fairfield County region are a plus.

    Compensation

      • $130,000–$145,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
      • Comprehensive benefits package
      • Potential relocation assistance
      • This is an on-site role (Monday–Friday) with community and evening event presence as needed.

    Join a Mission That Matters

Every day, CEE provides safety, advocacy, and hope. The next Executive Director will ensure that impact not only continues — but grows.
