    Descripción

    The president of the Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation is the head of our nonprofit board, ensuring that it operates efficiently and fulfills its duties. Working with the executive director and board members, you will guide our management and growth. The president sets short-term and long-term goals according to our Strategic Plan that align with the organization's vision, mission and values.

    Key responsibilities include leading board meetings, managing operational oversight, ensuring financial health, and acting as the public face of the organization.

    The length of your term, which is two (2) years; renewable, until re-elected or a successor is elected. Presidents may serve terms in succession.

    Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Strategic & Operational Leadership:

    - Develop and implement long-term goals in line with the Strategic Plan, manage organizational priorities, and ensure compliance with bylaws

    -Liaison with the County Parks and Conservation Resources regarding maintenance of the gardens and fostering a working relationship regarding all Foundation business

    - Exercise general supervision and control over all activities by the Foundation, including hiring, and supervision and review of the executive director, with approval from the board

    - Annually evaluate the performance of the Foundation with respect to achieving its mission

    - Review the FBGF by laws and policies periodically as necessary and bring relevant concerns to the board for consideration

    Board Governance:

    - Preside over meetings, set agendas, and foster a collaborative environment among board members and volunteers

    - Help guide and mediate board actions with respect to organizational priorities and governance concerns

    - Serve as an ex-officio of all Committees; and appoint with board approval, all board committee chairs.

    Financial Oversight:

    - Monitor the budget, ensure fiscal accountability, and manage cash flow

    - Oversee and negotiate the execution of contracts and other instruments authorized by the board

    - Ensure that all books, reports and certificates as required by law, are properly kept, retained and available for review by any member of the Foundation

    - Be one of the officers who may sign checks or drafts on behalf of the foundation

    Fundraising & Advocacy: Cultivate donor relationships, lead capital campaigns, and advocate for the garden’s mission to the public

    Community Engagement: Act as the primary representative, building partnerships and enhancing visibility

    Have powers that may be construed as belonging to the president according to Roberts Rule of Order (newly revised), as well as other powers or duties as defined by board approval

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Experience: 8+ years in business management leadership role (501c preferred) or relevant board roles
    • Skills: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and strategic planning skills
    • Passion: Strong commitment to our organization’s mission and values
    • Advocacy: Advocate for the Florida Botanical Gardens as a locally treasured and globally renowned entity
    • Collaboration: Develop and foster effective partnerships with our donors, members, volunteers, Pinellas County Government (especially Parks & Conservation Resources), and other organizations that support our mission
    • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Deliver resources and programming that serve people of all ages, abilities, cultures and incomes
    • Financial Security: Secure financial resources to support our Foundation goals and to help maintain and develop the Gardens
    • Stewardship: Manage the resources entrusted to the Foundation to ensure the conservation and preservation of the natural environment to better serve our current and future generations
    • Education level: Bachelor’s Degree
