    POSITION SUMMARY

The Inclusion Teacher for grades 2–4 serves as a cornerstone of our mixed-ability, multi-grade classroom model. In this role, you will design and deliver differentiated instruction across core subjects for students with and without identified disabilities, applying a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework to ensure every learner accesses rigorous content. You will collaborate closely with special service providers, content specialists, and families to build a cohesive, child-centered classroom community grounded in presumed competence.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Deliver instruction in ELA, Math, Science, History, and Study Skills within a small mixed-age class (maximum 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio)
    • Apply UDL principles to design differentiated, experiential, and project-based learning activities aligned to CA Common Core State Standards for grades 2–4

    • Establish clear, consistent classroom management systems while maintaining a flexible, student-centered environment
    • Partner with special service providers and co-teachers to ensure integrated, coordinated support for all learners
    • Collaborate with art and music educators to develop cross-curricular projects
    • Communicate student progress to families through regular updates, conferences, Back to School Nights, and Open House events
    • Maintain up-to-date gradebooks and upload lesson plans a minimum of two weeks in advance
    • Contribute to curriculum development, staff professional development, and school-wide best practices
    • Serve as a positive, grounded role model for students, families, and fellow educators

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Valid California teaching credential (Multiple Subject or Special Education)
    • Minimum 3 years of lead classroom teaching experience at the elementary level
    • Demonstrated experience with curriculum planning and implementation aligned to state standards
    • Proficiency with educational technology, including Google Classroom and digital assessment tools

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 5+ years of lead elementary classroom teaching experience, preferably in a multi-grade or inclusion setting
    • Experience supporting students with disabilities, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder or Apraxia
    • Familiarity with intervention methodologies including ABA, DIR, RDI, PRT, and/or RPM
    • 3+ years integrating social-emotional learning into daily classroom practice
    • Special Education credential or equivalent specialized training
    • Experience as a founding teacher at a new school or school site

    COMPETENCIES

    • Presumption of competence for all learners
    • Strong behavior support and student advocacy
    • Collaborative, team-oriented approach
    • Growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
    • Warm, structured, and relationship-driven communication style
    • Service orientation toward students, families, and colleagues
