    Meals on Wheels America is the leadership organization supporting the more than 5,000 community-based programs across the country that are dedicated to addressing senior hunger and isolation. Powered by a dedicated volunteer workforce, this network delivers a comprehensive solution that begins with a meal and is proven to enable independence and well-being through the additional benefits of tailored nutrition, social connection, safety and much more.     Position Summary

    The Marketing Director, is responsible for extending the reach and impact of the Meals on Wheels America brand’s relevance and impact to help the organization realize its bold goal to End the Wait™ and ensure that every senior who needs Meals on Wheels gets it. By leading and working across matrixed teams, the Marketing Director will lead breakthrough campaigns and initiatives, create and execute impactful storytelling plans, and thoughtfully leverage partnerships to make the issues of senior hunger and isolation relevant and tangible. They will also ensure member providers have associated guidance, assets and support to extend the reach of the End the Wait platform and its associated campaigns and initiatives in communities across the country.

    The position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, and is an Arlington, VA based, flexible hybrid working role. There is no weekly in-office requirement, however the ability to visit the office as needed is required.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Strategy/Campaigns

    • In collaboration with the Vice President, Marketing and Communications, leads the creation and ongoing management of the annual marketing and communications plan across channels to broaden awareness and strengthen Meals on Wheels brand identity across key stakeholder audiences.
    • Leads strategy, planning, and execution of brand-aligned campaigns that drive action (donation, advocacy, volunteering), partnering with internal teams and external agencies and managing vendors as needed.
    • Collaborates with creative team on campaign verbal and visual creative and to ensure brand alignment in fulfillment of campaigns
    • Ensures campaign and other content is properly stored in Digital Asset Management system and that future content needs are anticipated and fulfilled.

    Storytelling

    • Works across departments to create storytelling strategies and content plans for the year inclusive of grant-funded programmatic opportunities, Marketing and Communications efforts, Advocacy, and other sources of storytelling.
    • Utilizes impact reports, member data/feedback, surveys, social media mentions, and more to uncover story opportunities/leads that support our mission and strategic goals; develop innovative ways to share those stories and make our work tangible and relevant
    • Supports processes for storytelling efforts, including releases, contracts, expense reports, vendor payments, and story organization dissemination via Brandfolder as needed for staff and other contractors.
    • Oversees storytelling budget in collaboration with VP, Marketing and Communications.
    • Interest in and willingness to learn about issues impacting the health and wellness of older adults as well as needs of community-based programs.

    Partners

    • Serves as strategic partner to Development team to concept, execute and fulfill obligations for corporate and other partner agreements, coordinating deliverables across Marketing and Communications team.
    • Establishes and manages processes/workflows to more efficiently anticipate and execute partnership work.
    • Proactively identifies upcoming project needs; manages other departments to anticipate and request work in a timely fashion.
    • Works across internal teams to ensure partners have tools to engage with and amplify campaigns and initiatives.

    Qualifications or Skills Required

    • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, ideally within a nonprofit, agency or media environment or 10+ years of related experience.
    • Proven success leading large-scale, 360 and multi-platform campaigns and experience managing agency and consultant relationships
    • Comfort managing through influence across matrixed team of peers.
    • Deep knowledge and abilities to use multiple platforms and channels for a range of audiences.
    • Creative thinker with a track record of translating strategic thinking into action plans and outputs.
    • Iterative learner who can apply learnings to future projects seamlessly.
    • Proactive self-starter who can anticipate, problem-solve and ask for help when needed.
    • Impeccable organizational skills and a demonstrated track record of successful project management and project delivery, with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel – to time and budget.
    • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal, presentation) and extensive writing and editing experience across a variety of media.
    • Adept with MS Office Suite, Microsoft 365, Canva and project management tools as well as Zoom, Teams, and other virtual meetings, webinar, and training platforms.
