    Teen Tech Launchpad Instructional Lead

    Start Date: April 20th

    Location: Bronx, NY; Newark NJ; Atlanta, GA preferred - fully remote possible

    Reports to: Teaching and Learning Manager

    Role Overview

    Reporting to the Teaching and Learning Manager, this role will support the planning, staffing, training, and execution of seasonal instructional programming for high school-aged learners in the Teen Tech Launchpad program. The role works closely with the National Programs team to hire seasonal instructional staff, support final curriculum documentation builds, and ensure instructional systems and structures are in place for strong program delivery.

    A core responsibility of this position is supporting execution of seasonal instructor training, including leading sessions and facilitating key components of instructional onboarding and readiness. This role directly supervises 11 seasonal instructional staff members and provides day-to-day management, including hours approval, team check-ins, coaching, and administrative oversight. The position also serves as a key problem-solver during program implementation, supporting coverage planning, addressing classroom management concerns, and answering staff questions related to instruction and program processes.

    In addition, the role supports backend instructional systems and administrative structures, which may include Google Classroom setup, grading workflows, and other tools that strengthen instructional delivery. The ideal candidate is an organized, flexible, and equity-driven educator and people manager who can balance staff supervision, instructional support, training facilitation, and operational execution in a fast-paced environment.

    Seasonal Instructional Staff Supervision and Program Execution (50%)

    • Supervise 11 seasonal instructional staff members, providing day-to-day support to ensure strong instructional delivery and alignment to program expectations.
    • Lead regular seasonal instructor team check-ins to monitor progress, address challenges, reinforce priorities, and maintain strong communication across the instructional team.
    • Manage administrative responsibilities related to staff supervision, including reviewing and approving staff hours and ensuring completion of grading and learner supports.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for seasonal instructional staff questions related to program processes, instructional execution, classroom logistics, and day-to-day implementation.
    • Partner with Teaching and Learning Manager to support problem-solving related to instructional delivery, including addressing classroom management concerns, coaching staff through learner-facing challenges, and identifying solutions that maintain strong learning environments.
    • Coordinate coverage planning when an instructional staff member is absent or unavailable, ensuring continuity of instruction and minimal disruption to students.
    • Ensure seasonal instructional staff understand and consistently apply expectations related to facilitation, grading, learner support, professionalism, and program procedures.
    • Monitor instructional execution across staff and elevate concerns, patterns, or support needs to the Teaching and Learning Manager as appropriate.
    • Support a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and learner-centered instruction across all seasonal staff members.
    • Lead by example as an instructional leader and role model, demonstrating professionalism, flexibility, equity-centered practice, and a commitment to high-quality student experiences.

    Seasonal Instructional Hiring (20%)

    • Partner with the National Programs team and other relevant stakeholders to support the hiring and onboarding of seasonal instructional staff.
    • Review resumes and cover letters identifying candidates and coordinating all interview scheduling for all rounds of process.
    • Conduct all first round interviews for instructors and teaching assistants.
    • Collaborate with the Operations Team on final reference checks.
    • Sending all relevant information to ensure the Operations Team can send offer letters.

    Instructional Trainings and Material Preparation (20%)

    • Support the preparation of all instructional resources including slide decks, hands-on activities, discussion prompts, group work exercises, individual exercises, reference materials, and more.
    • Ensure that instructional resources (assignments, reference materials, relevant links for class, class recordings) are well-organized and understood by all instructional staff members.
    • Support with preparation of all instructional training materials.
    • Communicate with seasonal instructors to schedule all training sessions and ensure all staff is prepared for instruction and has relevant tools and resources.

    Team Meetings and Reporting (10%)

    • Work with program staff to resolve challenges that arise around fellows’ behavior or performance.
    • Attend weekly meetings to align with the Teen Tech Launchpad team on cohort progress, challenges, and outcomes.
    • Attend scheduled meetings with the Teaching and Learning team to address instructional challenges and opportunities.
    • Attend scheduled 1:1’s with the Teaching and Learning Manager.

    Schedule Requirements

    Candidates must be available for the specific weekly events described below for the duration of the program:

    Teen Tech Launchpad Class Time & Office Hours:

    • Tues - Thurs, 9 AM - 3 PM EST

    The remaining weekly hours are flexible, including a balance of standard workday hours between 9:00am - 5:00pm local time for team meetings and training.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in teaching, instructional coaching, youth development, or program implementation, preferably in STEM, computer science, or workforce-focused learning environments
    • Experience supervising, coaching, or supporting instructional staff, facilitators, or teaching assistants
    • Experience leading or facilitating staff training, onboarding, or professional development sessions
    • Strong classroom management knowledge and ability to support others in resolving learner engagement and behavior challenges
    • Experience working with high school-aged learners and designing or implementing engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and operational details at once
    • Experience supporting curriculum implementation, instructional resource development, or curriculum documentation processes
    • Comfort using learning management systems, Google Classroom, grading platforms, and other instructional technology tools
    • Strong administrative skills, including managing schedules, approvals, tracking tasks, and maintaining organized systems and documentation
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate expectations, provide feedback, and problem-solve across teams
    • Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments and respond calmly and effectively to real-time program or staffing challenges

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in computer science, coding, digital literacy, or design education
    • Experience in out-of-school time, summer youth, or seasonal education programming
    • Experience working in nonprofit, community-based, or youth-serving organizations
    • Familiarity with grading workflows, backend instructional systems, and program operations processes
    • Experience collaborating across teaching and learning, program, and operations teams to support high-quality program delivery

    Compensation

    • $32.00/hour for 20 hours/week
    • Pre-tax commuter benefits
    • 10 days of sick time per year

    Hybrid Work at TKH

    Attend an in person student facing event held during regular work hours, scheduled for a Friday.
