    Parent Support Coordinator (PSC) Job Description

    Reports to: Director of Programs, Positive Childhood Alliance (PCA) Rockdale/Newton

    Supervises: None

    Position Summary

    Under the supervision of the Director of Programs, the Parent Support Coordinator (PSC) is responsible for delivering weekly in-home parenting education to families with children aged 0–5. The PSC develops and implements individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and provides a range of supportive services, including referrals, case management, and family education. The role includes enrolling and serving approximately 65 families annually, with an active monthly caseload averaging 25 families. Additionally, the PSC acts as a liaison between PCA Rockdale/Newton and the broader community.

    Key Responsibilities

    Outreach and Referral Management

    • Actively solicits referrals from DFCS, hospitals, public schools, health departments (WIC), domestic violence shelters, pregnancy centers, probation offices, private practitioners, and self-referrals.
    • Establishes initial contact with families within three (3) days of referral and maintains ongoing communication with referral sources regarding service delivery and family progress.

    Family Engagement and Case Planning

    • Conducts intake assessments and collaboratively identifies family strengths and areas of need.
    • Develops and monitors strengths-based, individualized family service plans and assists parents in achieving both short- and long-term goals.
    • Administers post-tests and evaluations to measure progress upon program completion.

    Community Representation and Collaboration

    • Participates in inter-agency meetings, advisory boards, and community coalitions as a representative of PCA Rockdale/Newton.

    Professional Development

    • Attends required training sessions and actively pursues ongoing professional development opportunities.

    Record Keeping and Reporting

    • Maintains organized and up-to-date documentation, including client records and reports.
    • Provides timely responses to correspondence, emails, and calls—typically within 24 hours.
    • Submits reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner to the Executive Director.

    Community and Program Support

    • Supports recruitment of program participants and volunteers.
    • Assists in organizational fundraising activities.
    • Attends and participates in weekly staff and management meetings, as well as case reviews with the Executive Director.
    • Conducts exit interviews to assess family goal achievement.

    Service Delivery

    • Ensures the provision of both emergency and non-emergency services through direct support and community referrals.
    • Upholds strict confidentiality in all client matters.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.W., B.S., or B.A.) preferred.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in social work or related fields.

    Essential Skills and Attributes

    • Deep commitment to the mission of PCA Rockdale/Newton.
    • Knowledge of community resources and the social services landscape.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively under pressure.
    • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Experience working directly with low-income families is preferred.
    • Competence in assessment, case planning, family-centered service coordination, and outcome evaluation.

    Additional Requirements

    • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current vehicle insurance.
    • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Patience, empathy, and the ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly those experiencing challenges such as disabilities, trauma, or social disadvantages.
