    Executive Director

    Bleeding Disorders Alliance Illinois (BDAI)

    Location: Fully remote*, must reside in Illinois

    Full-time exempt: 40 hours per week

    Salary: $90,000+, commensurate with experience

    About the Organization

    BDAI is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for the inheritable bleeding disorders community by supporting individuals and their families with unbiased information and resources which allows them to live healthy and active lives. Since 1949, BDAI has provided trusted resources, education, advocacy, and community support to help individuals lead healthy and active lives.

    Position Overview

    The Executive Director is responsible for the management and supervision of all operations in accordance with the intent of the board of directors and consistent with the organization's bylaws and state regulations.

    We are seeking an experienced Executive Director who can lead with clarity and operational excellence a lean, focused nonprofit, values innovative ideas and problem solving, and is passionate about serving this community. The ideal candidate can thrive in a small, mission-driven organization, knows how to lead a team, and possesses strong major donor experience with a proven success record.

    Core Responsibilities

    Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Providing daily management of the organization with small staff of two or more part-time and/or full-time employees, ensuring operational continuity and financial oversight.
    • Maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical partners, clinicians, patients, and peer organizations.
    • Being responsible for the planning, coordination, and direction of the organization's operations and programs.
    • Prioritizing fundraising to grow programing and services for the community.
    • Overseeing and reporting on the organization's activities for the board of directors.
    • Ensuring that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives.
    • Coordinating and leading the annual budget evaluation and development, monthly budget reviews, and periodic forecast updates.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree preferred with 5-7+ years of leadership experience in a nonprofit setting
    • Proven successful experience in fundraising, budgeting, and organizational management
    • Experience working with boards, volunteers, and community stakeholders

    Skills and Competencies

    • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
    • Creative problem-solving skills
    • Financial acumen and operational management expertise
    • Project management and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Proven success record of cultivating major donor portfolio
    • Bilingual (Spanish)is a plus
    • Working knowledge of content management systems and social media

    Work Environment and Expectations

    • Fully remote*; must reside in Illinois
    • Full-time (40 hours per week), including 3-4 nights or one weekend a month
    • Travel required for in-state events, community outreach, and occasional national conferences
    • Regular interaction with stakeholders, partners, and community members
    • Occasional lifting of materials and supplies for events
