    Youth Career Facilitator

    Part-Time Contract Opportunity | $40 per Hour | 5–6 Months

    Position Overview

Are you passionate about helping young people discover their potential, explore career pathways, and prepare for life beyond high school? We are seeking an engaging, dependable, and adaptable Youth Career Facilitator to deliver career-readiness workshops to high school students in school settings.

This position is an excellent opportunity for a college student, homeschooling parent, retired educator, youth development professional, or aspiring teacher who enjoys working with young people and wants to make a meaningful impact.

The facilitator will lead interactive, 60–90-minute workshops approximately 2–3 times per week. Workshops will focus on career exploration, workplace readiness, professional development, decision-making, and other skills that help students prepare for their futures.

Students served will have a range of learning styles, abilities, and support needs, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and disabilities. The ideal candidate is patient, creative, organized, and comfortable adapting activities to engage diverse learners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Facilitate engaging, interactive career-readiness workshops for high school students.
    • Deliver 60–90-minute sessions approximately 2–3 times per week at designated schools.
    • Guide students through career exploration, goal setting, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and workplace expectations.
    • Adapt facilitation methods and activities to accommodate different learning styles, abilities, and support needs.
    • Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that encourages student participation and confidence.
    • Collaborate with school personnel and program leadership to support workshop delivery.
    • Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and consistent communication.
    • Provide basic feedback on student engagement, workshop outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.
    • Follow school policies, student safety requirements, and applicable confidentiality guidelines.

    Required Qualifications

    • Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
    • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to engage high school students in a positive, respectful, and professional manner.
    • Patience, flexibility, and a willingness to work with students with diverse abilities and learning needs.
    • Dependability and the ability to travel to assigned school locations.
    • Ability to facilitate structured workshops while adjusting to the needs of the group.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience in education, youth development, workforce development, mentoring, coaching, or career counseling.
    • Experience supporting students with disabilities or working in inclusive educational environments.
    • Familiarity with IEPs, differentiated instruction, or strategies for engaging students with varying learning needs.

Candidates are not required to be special education teachers. However, they must be willing to learn, follow established student accommodations and school guidance, and approach every student with respect and high expectations.

    Compensation and Schedule

    • Pay: $40 per hour.
    • Contract duration: 5–6 months.
    • Schedule: Approximately 2–3 school visits per week.
    • Workshop length: 60–90 minutes per session.
    • Location: Assigned high school locations.
    • Employment type: Part-time, contract-based engagement.

Actual weekly hours will depend on workshop schedules and program needs. Candidates should confirm availability for school-day assignments and travel between designated locations.

    Who Should Apply?

This opportunity may be especially well suited for:

    • College students and recent graduates seeking practical experience in education, psychology, social work, workforce development, or youth services.
    • Homeschooling parents and educators who enjoy teaching, facilitating activities, and helping young people learn.
    • Retired teachers and education professionals who want to continue making an impact without committing to a full-time position.
    • Youth mentors, coaches, and community leaders who can connect with teenagers and inspire them to think about their futures.
    • Career changers and aspiring educators who want hands-on experience facilitating learning and developing young people.

The right candidate does not simply deliver information. They can build rapport, create an engaging learning environment, and help students recognize possibilities for their lives and careers.

    The Challenges and Opportunities

    The challenges

    • Engaging students with different interests, attention spans, learning styles, and levels of motivation.
    • Supporting students with IEPs and disabilities while maintaining an inclusive and productive workshop environment.
    • Adjusting activities when a lesson does not go as planned or student participation is limited.
    • Managing a part-time schedule that requires preparation, punctuality, and travel to school locations.
    • Maintaining appropriate boundaries and professionalism in school settings.

    The opportunities

    • Make a direct and meaningful difference in the lives of high school students.
    • Gain hands-on facilitation and youth development experience.
    • Develop skills in public speaking, classroom engagement, inclusive instruction, and career coaching.
    • Earn $40 per hour while maintaining a flexible, part-time schedule.
    • Build professional relationships with educators and workforce development professionals.
    • Demonstrate leadership, initiative, and the ability to manage a program independently.

    Potential for Growth

This is an initial 5–6-month contract, but it may evolve into a broader role for the right person. A facilitator who demonstrates strong performance, initiative, reliability, and the ability to connect with students may be considered for expanded responsibilities in curriculum development, program coordination, facilitator training, or additional youth career-readiness initiatives.

Any expanded role would depend on program needs, performance, funding, and mutual agreement.

    How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a résumé and a brief statement describing their experience working with young people, their interest in career readiness, and their availability during the school week.

We are looking for someone who believes that every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, explore meaningful career options, and build a foundation for future success.

Help students see what is possible—and prepare them to pursue it.
