    We are looking for a leader ready to build upon LIT’s past 13 years of success to scale impact state and nationwide. If you have the organizational management and entrepreneurial spirit to work with our Board of Directors, partners, staff, students and families to execute our strategic plan and bring your talent, skills and connections to reach our mission, we invite you to apply for our Executive Director position.

    At LIT, we develop, nurture and empower first-generation college graduates to become the next generation of diverse leaders. We provide college access and attainment guidance, leadership and critical consciousness development, empowering students to be the change from the community, for the community.: redefining leadership. We reach this vision as a community-based non-profit organization that uses a cohort model to empower students and families to a destination that matters to them. Student programming includes:

    • Year 1-4 High School College Access Program
    • Year 5-8 Postsecondary Persistence Program
    • Life-long Alumni Program

    LIT has a 100% college acceptance rate, 80% postsecondary persistence rate and 100% of members commit to using their education and success to support their home community. We empower over 250 students annually from high school freshman to college graduates working at places from the United Way of Southern Nevada to Coupa Software.

    LIT's journey from its grass-roots beginnings to its more established non-profit organization is now seeking an individual who can help take us to the next level.

    Areas of Responsibility

    Fund Development (50%)

    • Successfully represent LIT in the community
    • Retain current donors, partners and grants
    • Engage & on-board new donors, partners and grants
    • Execute strategic plan to fund future growth and sustainability
    • Lead fundraising efforts working alongside board of directors and team

    Lead Team (30%)

    • Successfully manage a team to reach LIT’s organizational goals and staff members’ individual goals
    • Learn and internalize LIT’s programmatic structure in order to most effectively lead team members
    • Create operational efficiencies within the organization to scale as outlined in the strategic plan

    Operational Support & Additional Responsibilities (20%)

    • Given LIT’s staff size of 3 full-time (including this role) & 2 part-time staff members, ED must be flexible with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following: organizational communications, account management, program evaluation, student support services, etc. Management and engagement of organizational communications, program evaluation, parent meetings, and college trips.
    • Build organization’s operational capacity to effectively scale and grow
    • Ability to take a current vision and execute while also bringing skills, knowledge and expertise to build a future strategic direction
    • Manage Financial budget with monthly reporting to the Board of Directors

    Educational Background

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • MBA, Master’s in Urban Leadership, or other similar leadership focused advanced degree a plus

    Skills/Experience

    • Prior organizational leadership experience required
    • Mission-alignment required
    • Strong communication skills required
    • Experience running a non-profit or social venture highly preferred
    • Education leadership experience preferred, but not required

    Work Demands

    • Willing to work weekends and/or evening work hours required
    • Ability to manage a staff virtually and in-person
    • Work and collaborate effectively with a board of directors, community partners, donors, staff, students and families

    Additional Skills

    • Communicates complex ideas in a way that influences others to follow a plan
    • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit. Great team player that is accountable

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
