Shrimp Welfare Project is working with the global shrimp farming industry to advance humane slaughter practices. Through our Humane Slaughter Initiative, we support producers around the world in transitioning from traditional chill killing to modern electrical stunning systems, improving welfare for billions of animals. We currently partner with 30 producers across Latin America, Asia and Africa, helping them adopt equipment and practices that make harvesting both more humane and more efficient.
As the initiative grows, we are looking for a Technical Field Coordinator for Asia who will play a central role in successfully bringing electrical stunners into day-to-day farm operations. This is a practical, field-based position focused on coordinating manufacturing, shipping and installations; supporting logistics; and acting as a bridge between shrimp producers, equipment manufacturers, and the Shrimp Welfare Project team. Responsibilities include regular communication with stakeholders (via email, phone, and WhatsApp), hands-on support during on-farm installation visits, and follow-up with producers to ensure successful, sustained use of the equipment.
The Technical Field Coordinator for Asia will also support monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) efforts by collecting usage data and producer feedback. The role works closely with our Director of Programme Implementation, as well as our research and MEL teams, to ensure smooth installations and effective support for producers. The nature of the work might evolve over time as we continue to make improvements to the programme.
