    Position Summary:

    The Community Nutritionist will be responsible for implementing nutrition and cooking education workshops for youth and adults at Children’s Aid sites. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic educator who is passionate about positively impacting public health outcomes in community settings. They will do this by hosting in-person (and occasionally virtual) nutrition workshops that follow SNAP-Ed-approved curricula and engage participants in a dialogue about healthy behavior change.

    Essential Duties:

    • Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
    • Teach in-person group nutrition and cooking workshops for youth and adults at schools, early childhood centers, food distributions, and farmers markets. Support and teach virtual nutrition and cooking workshops for program participants as needed.
    • Assist in creating lesson plans using SNAP-Ed-approved curricula, under the guidance and with the support of the Program Manager, Nutrition Education.
    • Demonstrate how to prepare USDA-approved recipes for workshop participants and facilitate hands-on cooking experiences.
    • Assist the Program Manager, Nutrition Education in coordinating site logistics, including identifying opportunities for workshop series and maintaining an appropriate inventory of all program equipment.
    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships and communication with site leadership and staff.
    • Ensure smooth and compliant program implementation by completing administrative work, including data entry, attendance logs, receipt reimbursement, and other tasks as needed.
    • Create content for participant communication, including social media, according to the program’s communication strategy.
    • Collaborate with Go!Healthy staff through participation in team meetings, facilitating information sessions and workshops, and generally supporting the Go!Healthy mission.
    • Must abide by privacy laws, including HIPAA, etc.
    • In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Associates, Bachelors, and/or Master’s Degree in nutrition, dietetics, community and behavioral health, health education, public health, or nursing.
    • Minimum of one year of nutrition and cooking education experience with youth and adults.
    • Fluent in English and Spanish (native Spanish-speaker preferred).

    • Deep understanding of (or eagerness to learn) about food’s intersections with health equity, including common barriers to healthy eating.
    • Loves working in a team and values cultivating a strong team dynamic

The position's requirements are subject to periodic review and adjustment based on organizational needs and changes in work dynamics.
