We currently run programs in the following areas: immigration, climate change, racial justice, voting rights, government accountability, and responding to emergent legal needs.

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    STATUS:

    Full-Time

    LOCATION:

Remote, location flexible but some travel may be required, South Texas preferred. Work is conducted in the Eastern Time zone.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Project Corazón Legal/Coordinator will play a central role in the program’s day-to-day operations, combining administrative duties, case management, legal support, and logistical coordination. This position supports direct client work, internal document management, the organization of legal clinics, communication with volunteers, and the maintenance of information systems.

This is a dynamic role ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, possesses excellent interpersonal skills, and is deeply committed to the rights of migrants.

Specific Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Assist in the preparation, review, organization, and translation of immigration forms (I-765, G-28, I-589, FOIA, among others).
    • Manage documents submitted by clients: receive, review, categorize, and upload files to the corresponding case management system.
    • Maintain updated record management in tools such as Asana, Airtable, and Google Drive.
    • Support the team in reviewing documents for grammar and formatting.
    • Serve as the initial point of contact for client communications.
    • Assist in coordinating virtual and in-person legal clinics.
    • Schedule interviews, meetings, and calls with clients, volunteer attorneys, and external partners.
    • Support intake management: follow-up, agreements, digital signatures.
    • Review, prioritize, and respond to incoming emails from clients, volunteers, and external partners.
    • Take notes during key meetings and distribute them to the team.
    • Manage calendars and internal schedules.
    • Keep databases, contact lists, and internal systems organized and up to date.

    REQUIREMENTS:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated legal assistant/coordinator (with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred) to support the operational, administrative, and legal functions of Lawyers for Good Government’s (L4GG’s) Project Corazón. This role blends program coordination with direct legal support and will play a key role in managing client intakes, organizing legal clinics, coordinating with pro bono attorneys, and supporting detention-related projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and administrative skills, experience supporting legal or community-based services, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They should feel comfortable engaging with clients—including individuals in immigration detention—collaborating with volunteers and law firms, reviewing and organizing legal documents, coordinating schedules and communications, and using digital tools to manage cases and program activities.

This position is well-suited for someone detail-oriented, proactive, and deeply committed to immigrant rights—someone who can balance direct client support with the logistical, operational, and legal needs of a dynamic, high-impact national program, including initiatives focused on detention conditions, access to counsel, and legal support for immigrants.

    • Commitment to L4GG’s mission and to advocating for migrant communities.
    • Experience working with migrant communities or in legal services.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Familiarity with legal intake processes or coordination with law firms.
    • Experience managing digital files, databases, and document management systems.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite and comfort using new technological tools.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Access to a quiet workspace with a stable internet connection.
    • Ability to pass a background check and enter immigration detention centers.
    • Availability to travel as needed.
    • 2 years of experience in administrative, legal, or program support preferred
