ABOUT New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund

New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund (NYAGV) empowers youth and communities to advance safety, healing, and violence prevention through education, advocacy, and community-based engagement. NYAGV supports individuals and families impacted by gun violence by increasing access to resources, services, and community-driven pathways to healing.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

NYAGV is seeking a Part-Time Community Resource Coordinator to plan and support three community-based victim resource events—one each in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens—between January and September.

This role focuses on trauma-informed event coordination and outreach to individuals and families impacted by gun violence, including survivors and tertiary victims.

Events will prioritize access to information, referrals, and supportive spaces that promote emotional wellness and community connection.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinate logistics including venues, schedules, vendors, partners, and materials
    • Ensure events are trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and accessible

    Victim Services Navigation & Referrals

    • As a part of outreach and organizing for events, provide resource navigation and referrals related to victim compensation, mental health providers, legal services, housing resources, and other supportive services.
    • Assist participants with sign-ups, intake forms, and follow-up connections as appropriate

    Community Partnerships & Outreach

    • Maintain relationships with community-based organizations and service providers
    • Conduct targeted outreach for events in neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by gun violence

    Data, Documentation & Reporting

    • Track event attendance, participant demographics, and services accessed
    • Provide brief written summaries and follow-up notes to internal staff and partners

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

    • Experience supporting individuals or communities impacted by trauma, violence, or loss
    • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage event-based projects
    • Availability for occasional evenings and weekends
    • Comfort working in community-based settings (schools, parks, housing developments, faith-based spaces)

    Preferred

    • Experience in victim advocacy, community outreach, social services, public health, or violence prevention

    WORK STRUCTURE

    • Hybrid role with remote planning and in-person community events
    • Travel across NYC boroughs required
    • Ability to support light physical setup for events (tables, supplies)

    Compensación

Through Peoplekeep Benefits, NYAGV Ed Fund will provide you with a healthcare reimbursement arrangement. NYAGV Ed Fund's HRA account you may accrue a specific reimbursement entitlement per month towards your healthcare expenses (can be applied to any qualifying healthcare expenses).
