    Descripción

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Recruit, build, and sustain a strong, engaged worker-member base.
    • Develop member leaders through political education, training, and organizing practice.
    • Work with organizers and member-leaders to plan and drive campaigns challenging unjust labor practices and improving workplace standards.
    • Coordinate and facilitate bilingual orientations and membership meetings on labor and immigration rights.
    • Support labor and immigration organizing campaigns alongside the Organizing Team.
    • Staff community office hours and manage follow-up on labor-related legal clinic cases.
    • Build and maintain relationships with community allies, labor partners, and local leaders.
    • Educate and mobilize members around labor-focused coalition campaigns.
    • Increase membership engagement and support additional organizing efforts as needed.
    • Attend weekly staff and organizer meetings.
    • Maintain accurate databases and reporting systems.
    • Assist with fundraising and other duties as assigned.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 1+ year of experience in community organizing, labor organizing, or social justice campaigns, preferably with immigrant or low-wage worker communities.
    • Demonstrated commitment to social, economic & racial justice and low-wage workers of color, including immigrant workers.
    • Experience with workers’ rights. Familiar with or willing to learn about Chicago/Illinois labor policy.
    • A commitment to problem solving, with innovative, creative and strong interpersonal, time management, planning, and communications skills.
    • Technology proficiency.
    • Bilingual Spanish/English, to include excellent written/verbal communication ability and ability to interpret/translate.
    • Must have drivers license and reliable and consistent access to a vehicle

    Compensación

    The Labor Organizer recruits and develops worker leaders, facilitates bilingual rights trainings, and advances strategic campaigns that protect immigrant communities and strengthen worker power.
