ABOUT ÚLTIMO RECURSO

Último Recurso is a climate justice organisation using the power of Law to hold governments and corporations accountable. We work through climate litigation, strategic advocacy, and community legal support to protect people and the planet. Our mission is to put legal tools at the service of climate and social justice: demanding the transformation of current legal systems to enable the structural change needed to face the climate crisis.

THE ROLE

The Community Facilitator is responsible for organising community meetings in 10 municipalities that have not yet published their Municipal Climate Action Plan (PMAC). You will mobilise local communities, promote dialogue with political representatives, and facilitate the collective drafting of open letters demanding local climate action.

• Location: Hybrid (Located in Portugal)
• Type: Task-Based Contract
• Compensation:166€/ Community Assembly

KEY REQUIREMENTS

• Lead 10 assemblies in rural municipalities, adapting script, language and format to each community.
• Hold inclusive space for youth, elderly residents, minority groups and local activists.
• Produce a structured assembly report for each event.
• Coordinate documentation with Último Recurso's communications team (video, photography, written summary).
• Coordinate with our legal team to ensure factual accuracy of all materials presented

REQUIREMENTS

• Available to travel to >5 municipalities in Portugal between May-June 2026
• Proven experience in facilitating community meetings, participatory processes, or group dynamics.
• Ability to engage in dialogue with various local stakeholders, including schools, associations, informal groups, and policymakers.
• Knowledge of (or strong interest in) climate justice, local public policy, and citizen participation.
• Experience in facilitating public events and/or collaborative processes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in Portuguese.
