Position Mission
The Sections Coordinator is a part of the Member Services Department and reports to the Practice Support Senior Program Manager. The Sections Coordinator’s primary responsibility is oversight, planning, and coordination of KCBA’s Practice Area Sections to ensure that the practice groups operate as expected and that they function to achieve long-term goals and objectives. The Sections Coordinator is a hybrid remote/in-person position with an in-person requirement at the KCBA Seattle office at least two days a week or as needed to cover section meetings.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The primary responsibility of this role will be to coordinate with the volunteer attorneys (section leadership) for each practice group to determine their yearly goals, lead them in executing those goals, and maintain the groups’ effectiveness for the membership at-large;
- Maintains the internal and external monthly calendar of section meetings, including communicating with KCBA staff, ensuring events appear on KCBA website, and reserving conference rooms or outside venues as needed for hybrid/in-person meetings;
- Provides logistical and administrative support for section leadership, including leading them in an annual volunteer orientation, monthly meeting planning, IT check-ins with Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) presenters, IT support during monthly meetings, and application for CLE credit with the Washington State Bar Association (“WSBA”) for all section-hosted CLE programming;
- Maintains section E-Communities (online web portals for members) and listservs to ensure that all communication to and between members is accessible;
- Assists the KCBA Events Coordinator with section special events including happy hours, receptions, and other events outside the monthly lunchtime CLE model;
- Communicates with section leadership regarding budgets, account balances, section sponsorships, and other financial matters;
- Works with the Practice Support Senior Program Manager to set program goals and objectives and to determine measurements for success;
- Evaluates the progress of each practice group and alerts the Practice Support Senior Program Manager where there are concerns regarding the program’s ability to meet set goals;
- Edits, processes, and uploads all recorded CLE programs hosted by sections and maintains online video library submissions, as needed;
- Manages KCBA Sections inbox and assists with other Member Services Department group inboxes to ensure excellent customer service throughout the entire department;
- Assists with other, non-section events and activities as needed, including but not limited to educational events, board and member meetings, membership renewal campaigns, and marketing;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Dedicated team player with a commitment to collaboration and ability to interact professionally and effectively with co-workers, board members, volunteers, clients, members, outside counsel, and court personnel.
- Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to the Bar’s mission.
- Ability to work variable hours, if needed, for evening/weekend events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree or equivalent life experience.
- Two years previous work experience required, with preference given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas: database management, event planning, project management, accounting/invoicing, law firm administration, continuing education, association membership, and/or customer service.
- Strong experience in writing, multi-tasking, and communicating with individuals from all backgrounds.

POSITION DETAILS
This is a non-exempt, full-time position (40 hours/week) based in Seattle, WA with flexible hours as needed to cover evening meetings and events. Salary range is $64,608 - $67,608 annually based on years of experience, with excellent benefits.
