    Program Assistant

    Africa Program

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers, is seeking a full-time program assistant to work with scholars in our Africa Program based in Washington, DC.

The Carnegie Africa program works to shape the political, economic, technological and security issues crucial for Africa’s future amid geopolitical uncertainty. The program's work spans political and geopolitical shifts, trade, technology and climate and energy transitions.

The program assistant will provide administrative and secretarial support, make travel arrangements, prepare expense reports, perform database work, handle web postings, coordinate meetings and events, interface with the international public policy community, and help organize private and public events for the Africa program. The position will also assist in tracking workflows, preparing grant reports and budgets as well as monthly financial reviews of grant spending. Excellent entry level opportunity to work with senior scholars.

The ideal candidate would have a bachelor's degree as well as experience in providing logistical, budgetary, and event support. The ideal candidate would also be able to demonstrate excellent teamwork skills, the ability to balance multiple competing tasks successfully, and attention to detail even under time pressure. We welcome applicants with knowledge of Africa’s political and economic dynamics, though such knowledge is not required.

Located in Dupont Circle, we offer an outstanding work environment and generous benefits, including health insurance. The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 - $52,000. Please note that this position will operate on a hybrid basis, requiring in-office work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
