    Position Description

    Ariva seeks a creative, high-energy Program Manager to join our leadership team. The Program Manager will lead an exciting multi-year project that supports micro-entrepreneurs and small business owners to develop successful businesses in targeted, underserved Bronx neighborhoods. The Program Manager will also oversee Ariva’s personal consumer finance initiatives in those neighborhoods.

    The Program Manager will oversee a team of four to five staff; the manager will be part of Ariva’s core leadership team, who, together, will shape and carry out our vision for a financially empowered Bronx community.

    This job involves frequent local travel to sites around the Bronx and requires some evenings and weekend hours over the course of the year. Face-to-face in-person service is an essential component of this position; the manager will oversee staff and operations at one of Ariva’s Bronx offices. All staff must be vaccinated and must follow our health and safety procedures in our offices.

    Responsibilities

    The Program Manager has lead responsibility for all aspects of Ariva’s program services in the assigned projects.

    • The Program Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Management and supervision of assigned business development and financial counseling projects.
    • Design and implementation of new and existing projects, including workshop and curriculum development.
    • Lead workshops on business development, conduct individual business development consultations, and provide ongoing business development coaching.
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with public, private, and community service providers working in areas related to workforce and business development.
    • Serve as lead agency liaison with community host partners and public and private project funders.
    • With support from the Program Director, participate in budget development, monitoring and reporting.
    • Oversee contract management.
    • Recruit, train, supervise and support line staff.
    • Develop new partnerships with community stakeholders, including residents, financial institutions, financial services providers, and community-based organizations.
    • Ensure program integration with Ariva’s free tax preparation program.
    • Generate all internal and external management reports.
    • Monitor performance to ensure all projects are on target with project goals, aligned with Ariva’s mission and strategy and compliant with all funder, regulatory and internal requirements.

    Core Competencies:

    • Minimum of three years of direct experience working with entrepreneurs and small businesses in New York City, including at least one year in supervision and project management.
    • Experience in small business start-up and development counseling and in employer education.
    • Strong project management skills: ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects with varying goals, requirements, and timelines.
    • A demonstrated commitment to and experience working with low-income people and in low-income communities.
    • Cultural competence to provide services to the diverse members of our community.
    • Ability to identify and build new relationships and manage existing ones with community partners.
    • Must be very well-organized, with great attention to detail.
    • Computer-literate; comfortable with data management, data entry, and reporting.
    • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Flexible, patient, with a sense of humor and a strong work ethic.
    • Ability to conduct presentations and workshops to an audience in person or virtu
    • Must be a person with strong networking and outreach skills.
    • Fluent in Spanish and English.

    In addition to the above competencies, any of the additional skills and experience listed below are highly desirable:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
    • Contract management experience.
    • Experience in financial counseling and adult education projects, and familiarity with consumer banking products, is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Salesforce.
    • Experience in Sales is a plus.

    Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 annually, based on experience. Ariva offers full-time employees subsidized health and dental insurance, generous paid time off, 401K, and other benefits.
